*This review is for the residential aspects of Lake of the Pines* We lived at LOP for about 3 years. We were attracted by the beautiful lake, the Clubhouse and Sports Lounge dining facilities, and (we hoped the recreational opportunities of boating on the lake. I am sorry to say, we were sorely disappointed by the living experience there. First, the dock facilities at the lake are fully reserved and you have to PAY to be on a waiting list, for which you receive essentially nothing. Next, you are not allowed to park an RV in your driveway, even if it fits there. LOP has a RV storage lot next to the community. Guess what it is also fully reserved, also with a paid waiting list. The Homeowner's Association is the most obnoxious and intrusive I've seen. It took nearly an act of Congress to get a simple pet enclosure fence installed (pets are not allowed off leash , with several back and forth proposals to the Association while they changed the fence color, fence height and dimensions the published rules went out the window. All this followed by an unannounced Association visit on a Saturday morning at 8:00 am to measure the front yard. (Doesn't the Association have plot maps? Yes they do they gave me one after they changed the Firewise brush clearing requirements another nightmare! This is what you get for your nearly $300/month assoc. dues. The only reason I am not giving one star is the dining facilities and food are good, especially at the Clubhouse situated on the beautiful lakeside. Better enjoy the lake, you'll get weeks of 95 105 degree weather mid June through early September. This place is hotter than it looks!
This is home I love it here. Friendly service and local beer on tap
Nice clubhouse with great water view!
Good place with good food
