It was cold on the day of my reservation. I received a call from the venue that advises that they are not within reservations. I wanted to go so I kept my outdoor booking and the very nice lady on the phone told me to bring a blanket and they would have the heaters for us. The room is beautiful!!! Our waiter Charlie was enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable and a general pleasure. Drinks where top animal, atmosphere... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Spaceman Hyatt Centric Buckhead:
The mood and everything is there, but the music selection was a very bad choice. It sounded like elevator music. If you have been more alive, expand your genre selection. View all feedback.
Food was outstanding but they were very short staffed. 1 server, 1 bartender. Everything took a very long time, from water to drinks or ordering. That's the only knock the food was very good. If they figure out staffing this will be an easy 5 star.
While we have enjoyed Hugh Atcheson restaurants for many years, Mount Royal was a big disappointment. Starting with the valet parking situation at the hotel entrance where one of the hotel employees was arguing with the 3rd party valet company attendant when we arrived. We waited 10 minutes to have an attendant approach us. At this point, he spent several more minutes explaining the valet company’s App and that we needed to download the app at dinner and complete all the information before paying for and ordering our car for pick- up post- meal. Oh, and btw, there is a $10 charge plus CONVENIENCE fee not including gratuity for the pleasure of enjoying this parking circus! While the ambiance of the restaurant is modern shriek, all of the tables surround the bar so essentially you are eating at cocktail tables in the bar. While our waiter, CJ was attentive, knowledgeable and very sympathetic with regard to the parking fiasco, the menus is very limited. You will find 4 cuts of beef, a chicken dish, lobster, salmon and a vegan offering. My wife ordered the strip and I had the salmon. While the steak was cooked correctly, it lacked rich flavor that you would associate with a USDA prime cut of beef. Lesson to remember: if you want a classic steakhouse experience, go to a classic steakhouse of which Atlanta has several outstanding offerings. My salmon, while attractively plated, was extremely under cooked, basically raw other than the exterior. The latkes were bland and not worthy of what you might expect. Overall, the food was average at best given the inflated menu prices. Sorry to be so critical as we have enjoyed several great meals at Five Ten but Mount Royal was an expensive disappointment. There are way too many other dining options in ATL to settle for this sub- par experience. P.S…. After downloading the park app paying for parking, the app informed us “ due to high volume, we are unable to process your request”! What a great ending!
A bit disappointing. The menu is limited. The food was good but not outstanding as we had hoped. By comparison to Bones, Chops, Hals or NY prime it just does not hold its own.
My wife’s ny strip was returned twice. Both steaks were not edible due to the amount of gristle present. The sides, creamed spinach and mushrooms were very small portions. Initial round of drinks took way toooooooo long. At no time did a manager come by to say hello and check on our experience. Three of us ordered steaks, it’s a steak house right. We were all very surprised at how thin the steaks were. Hugh, your reputation will take a hit if this ship is not righted. Our server, Casey I believe was very nice, courteous and professional. The dining room is well done. Net, net the ATL is a steakhouse kinda of town. Mt Royal has a long way to go. A very long way. Hugh, please do better.
It's a beautiful restaurant and they've made the acoustics particularly nice for older diners who don't want to compete with the room to make conversation. But it's evident that staffing is an issue. Our server was earnest and pleasant but at these prices, honestly I'd like someone who really knows what they're doing. These restaurants throw these kids onto the floor and they're just not polished enough for what management is shooting for. I understand that finding qualified servers is tough in this market, but if you want this to be a high priced steakhouse, the establishment needs better trained, polished people to be on the floor. Hopefully things will improve. The food was fine; but not a wow by any stretch.
