I ordered a burger, fries, a drink, and banana pudding, and I won't be coming back. The burger was greasy, soggy, and appeared to be squished, including the bun. It had an off-putting smell, and I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The fries were somewhat acceptable, and the banana pudding was just average. Overall, I've experienced much better food quality elsewhere.
This is my favorite spot in Athens. As a vegan, I am always on the hunt for desserts. When I tell you that I haven’t had a donut in the six years I’ve been vegan- Nedzas has been a GODSEND. Not one, but all of the donut flavors are vegan!!! The staff is extremely welcoming and kind when I come in for my weekly half dozen. I first tried a donut from their booth at the Saturday farmers market. This is such a great spot in Athens for anyone who loves donuts, coffee, breakfast, and a wonderful time.
My first time trying their food was this morning. I tried chicken and waffle with pimento cheese grits. And a latte. Latte was okay. Chicken looked cooked to perfection on the outside crust, but part of the inside was burnt and tasted so. The server was pleasant and helpful. I only saw about 8-10 pimentos in the large serving of grits and had to add salt and pepper to taste. (The salt not so much to taste salt, but to make the grits have a little more taste. I think they are onto something with the grits, but they could use a little more pimento AND cheese in their recipe in my opinion. Also, they might not be used to a person not being in a hurry to eat and run. On a Saturday morning, I occasionally like to eat out and collect my thoughts or work on things, like reviews maybe, on my phone...take my time. The dining area was not crowded, and being helpful and consciencious, my server came over a couple of times to to see if I needed a box for leftovers. I finally decided to take her up on it and sat here to finish my review. Since this was my initial impression, I hope to return and have enjoy the food itself more and give them more stars. We will see.
