Union Cafe - Athabasca
Union Cafe
Description
The Heritage Grill at the Union Hotel in Athabasca offers a typical small town old hotel café menu with some exceptions. While the food is good, there are no stand-out signature dishes. Prices may be a bit high, and the décor is outdated. However, the restaurant provides a friendly atmosphere for town folks to gather, with decent service and a variety of food options. Overall, it is a comfortable spot, especially for breakfast or pizza, with reasonable prices and generous portions. Just beware of the cleanliness of the ceiling lamps.

I stopped by the café to wash some work aprons, and when I returned to take them out of the dryer, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the store owner had folded them for me! What fantastic service—truly going the extra mile for customers. Thank you!
The food is consistently fresh! If you're ever in the area, you absolutely have to try the chicken club—it's incredible! For locals, this place is a must-visit. Plus, the staff is really friendly too!
This place poses a serious risk to safety standards and should be demolished. It would be better to replace it with a Dairy Queen, McDonald's, or something more practical. It's unfortunate that the town council seems to be out of touch.
This place has tremendous potential, and the efforts put into revamping the restaurant are commendable. The food could be fantastic; I know a couple of talented cooks who work there. However, some of the waitstaff and bartenders could use a friendlier attitude—more smiles would go a long way. It's important to stay focused and put down the phones because you represent this establishment. Megan, I appreciate your hard work—keep it up! And Kayla, I believe in you! The entertainment has truly improved with the new performer. I’d love to see more community involvement to gather ideas that can help keep this beautiful place thriving. While it’s a process, I believe it’s achievable.
