Far away from “Swabian cuisine” and a culinary feast for the palate! Fries taste like old fat and the frozen schnitzels come from the fryer, not to mention the ready-made sauce, which came far too late even though it was ordered in advance... Service staff often ask if everything is OK, but then they always leave empty-handed while the table is left full of dishes and empty glasses. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met and in no way did justice to the occasion of my father's birthday, I no longer have to have it Edit: the answer is probably a joke! We were actually always quite satisfied, the food was really delicious. Today, however, we were very disappointed. We ordered a salad and the spaetzle with sauce (from the children's menu, as many times before, always without any problems). This was also brought to us, in the usual size, as it usually cost €5.50. However, when the bill came, they charged €9.50 per portion on the grounds that they thought we wanted a large portion, which we were never informed about and this large portion wasn't even on the menu. When we asked the waitress about it, they just said there was a miscommunication and we had to pay the higher price. We were very disappointed because the price increase was unexpected and we were not asked beforehand what portion size we would like or how much this large portion actually costs.
When Gudrun and Ingrid still ran the Schubartstube, the Schubartstube WAS a place where you COULD unwind. The food and the menu written in Swabian dialect were also convincing. The kindness that Gudrun and Ingrid showed you is a PAST. Today the staff, who are easily recognizable as non-Swabians, run after you and loudly accuse you of cheating. Just because one doesn't know what the other is doing. Of course I had already paid. NOT A WORD OF SORRY. In 1978/79 I was one of the first guests at the then newly opened Schubartstube in the tower and became a regular guest, even a friend of the house. My visit in August 2023 was definitely THE last and THE last. I am MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED!
