This is especially true if you are dining al... read more I am a local, but the George Hotel is truly an exceptional place to not only dine, but to spend the entire evening. This is especially true if you are dining alone. The staff are professional yet extremely friendly. The chef adds interesting twists to the menu without being too avant-garde. The front of house teams are accommodating and the slightly open plan kitchen allows you to see the entire process. For me, Chris Gomez, this is one of my favorite places to eat, even compared to places in London. Thank you to all the teams, both front and back of house. Great job. Regards, Chris F.

Food was beautifully presented and tasted great. Wish we had found it on our first night because we could have stayed there for the whole day easily.

For our main courses, my friend had t... read more During a day trip to Rye with a close friend, we had lunch at this restaurant. We started with delicious olives and bread. For our main courses, my friend had the sea bass while I had the fish and chips. We both thought the food was exceptional. It was served quickly and the service was excellent. Although we didn't have any alcohol or dessert, what we did have was extremely satisfying.

Main concerns were grubby looking menus, dirty water bottle, bits in the water and dessert being served on a bowl with large chip in it. All these things are easily remedied. While staff and service were fine, the water and dessert bowl point to lack of care and attention to detail.
