First stop on our haunted places weekend. Food was reasonably priced and delicious. As this is a historical site, one of the many Roadhouses along the route up north, you can walk around the property and look into the original houses built over 100 years...ago and are still standing. Plan on spending a bit of time wandering around the property either before or after your meal. View all feedback.
What Nelle Kuhlman doesn't like about Ashcroft Manor Teahouse:
Had been many years since I had visited here Was very disappointed to see how run down the manor was Tea room looked delightful but one expects a tea room to offer sweet treats and tea not your average Cafe menu Felt we were intruding...when we asked about access to manor and gift shop There was no suggestion that we stop for tea or a snack and they could accommodate us when free Please note there was no one seated i... Established in the 1860's, this little teahouse has been an oasis for travellers for 150 years. Light, restful and refueling fare with an emphasis on things that go with tea, like pie. Fruit pies from fresh local fruit, that is, and things like chicken pot pies (excellent). Was very impressed to read in another review that another traveller stopped there hoping for a conventional bacon-and-eggs type breakfast--not on the menu, but the owner went ahead and prepared that for them.
We had the home made chicken pot pie, with salad. BEST pie ever ! Very good service. Very good value . very signicant place , back in the day . ( 1862 ) is / was a long time ago ! Great history !
The Ashcroft Manor Teahouse is an amazing little place. If you find yourself driving by (it's situated right on the highway), I highly recommend stopping in and checking it out- If not only for the amazing food, but to see the historic atmosphere that is this place. Food recommendation: The chicken pot pie is my favorite, one of the most delicious pot pies I have ever had that come with a the freshest salad and homemade dressing.
Our lunch at the tea house was one of the best meals we've had. They use everything freshly picked and made with love and large portions. You absolutely have to try their home made pies. Almost as good as grandma makes (almost;-)
