Thai Basement offers a cozy atmosphere, but experiences vary widely among diners. While some find delight in dishes like tender lamb shanks and flavorful duck spring rolls, others lament stale decor and less-than-satisfactory service. Many praised the generous portions and warm staff, yet a few were disappointed by off-putting flavors and a lack of accommodations for dietary restrictions. Overall, while the restaurant has its charm, improvements in maintenance and consistency could enhance the dining experience, ensuring it remains a beloved spot for Thai cuisine enthusiasts.

Was User at The Basement Thai a mag?
I enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The decor was dated but authentic, although it did not look well-maintained, which was disappointing. It may be time for a renovation. View all feedback.

What User dislikes about The Basement Thai:
we were very excited to eat here as we love all Thai foods. my parents wanted to pick up the farewell and didn't get a very warm welcome. they also forgot one of our courts they had to wait for. the apology was out of hand. the worst part, however, was our prawn pad thai that had a huh in it. 2 of our party are pescetaric, so it could not eat, despite this being, to share the court we had ordered. After exploring Thor's Cave, my friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant. We thought you can never go wrong with Thai food. Upon entering, we were greeted by a woman who seemed uninterested in serving us, and the decor of the place looked like it had not been updated since the 90s. The worn carpets and the outdated bathrooms could definitely use some renovation. We finally sat down, and the waitress asked us a very basic question about our food choices, which made us question if she had even consulted the chef. My friend ordered the prawn dish, while I opted for the chicken satay. The prawns were average, and the chicken satay was tolerable. However, when our main dishes arrived, the smell was off-putting and the noodles were drowning in sauce. It tasted fishy, but when we asked the manager (or owner), they insisted that there was no fish sauce in the dish. We took our first bite and were extremely disappointed with the flavors. It was so bad that we couldn't finish our meals. I have never returned food at a restaurant before, but this time it was necessary. We paid for our meals and left feeling let down. It truly ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant evening.

I actually ate some of that huh before I realized what I was angry when I wasn't eating a huh. the rest of the food was good, but that really overshadowed our meal. will never go back and warn people
