That Thai - Ascot
That Thai
Description
That Thai, located in Ascot near the race track, used to be a favorite spot for many with good food at reasonable prices. However, recent changes led to disappointment for some regular customers. Despite claims of using fresh produce and skyrocketing prices, the food quality has dropped for many. The menu has become predictable and boring, lacking the wow factor that it used to have. While some still appreciate the friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere, others feel that the authenticity of the Thai cuisine has been compromised to cater to Aussie tastes. On the other hand, Farm Rak, the newly rebranded restaurant, has received positive reviews for its delicious food and friendly service. The owners have impressed diners with their farm-to-plate concept and reasonable prices. Overall, That Thai/Farm Rak offers a mix of experiences - disappointing for some, while others continue to enjoy the tasty food and warm service, making it worth a visit if you're in the area.

Smiling and happy staff as always. Nothing spectacular about the food, just good honest dishes, freshly prepared and tasty. A good selection of the usuals and a few such as lamb dishes a little more experimental but nevertheless good. Generous serves and reasonably priced. Better than most locally for quality.
We travel to Ascot from the East side, on a regular basis to sample the delicious goodies these guys consistently serve up! We ordered the Cashew Nut stir fry and the Pad Siew. Fresh. Full of veges. Reasonable serving size with great service. It's a winner. :)
The last time I reunited with Thai food was around a month ago - Considering I don't have Thai food often, I thought it'd be nice to rediscover those flavours again, especially when I have a dining companion joining me :) Table reserved for 2 people at 7:30pm - majority of the seatings inside were full. The alfresco area seemed relaxing, with the heater on and the natural breeze it was the perfect environment. The menu offered a vast selection of soups, curries, rice and noodle dishes, seafood and the list just went on. We decided on the Banana Leaf Chicken, Thai Lamb and a bowl of White rice to share. Food came to the table reasonably quick - The Thai Lamb was delightful, meat was soft and each piece I had was filled with flavour (salad was really fresh too). The chicken was slightly on the drier side, but to compensate that, the side sauce made it quite enjoyable (I liked the lemongrass taste it had). My dining companion and I both preferred the Thai Lamb over the Banana Leaf Chicken. Service was quick, nice experience accompanied by friendly staff :) Thank you That Thai!
Got the prawn pad Thai, sweet and sour pork, bowl of rice and golden cups. Everything was great! Nice interior and exterior and staff were nice enough. Overall cost was about $50 something.
