The kitchen was good as always but the service was the star of the evening. We could feel the management change in a very positive way. Thank you again for the awesome evening. We'll be back hopefully soon.

The restaurant with its lily pond was one of the highlights of our extended wee... read more We had dinner at the Hide Seek restaurant in the gorgeous Giardino Ascona hotel. The restaurant with its lily pond was one of the highlights of our extended weekend in Ascona – even though the restaurant was well visited, the young service team was very well coordinated and highly professional, taking plenty of time to recommend which wines to pair with our orders and answering any questions we had. We enjoyed every minute of our visit from the moment we walked into the courtyard until we left (we stayed a lot longer than initially intended, because the staff, in particular Stephan, who seems to be the supervisor, made us feel at home and were very amenable . The food and wines the staff recommended were phenomenal!! The menu is very varied (i.e. whether you’re a carnivore or vegan, this is the place to be!! and a lot of detail is paid to the presentation of dishes. We loved the positive vibe and atmosphere at Hide Seek and will definitely be coming back!!

The food was not very inspiring and choice was limited.

However when you are presented with a menu without any pasta risotto dishes in Tessin something is wrong.!! The menu itself is somewhat limited and the portions are somewhat on the small side. The food is good but unexciting and if we had decided to eat here again on the next evening we would have struggled to select dishes which we really wanted to eat. The desserts were nothing to write home about either.!!The service is good and the staff are friendly but the dining room needs brightening up and a rethink is also required as far as the menu is concerned. Safe but a little boring.!!
