Quaint atmosphere and top-quality meat with room for improvement in the side dishes The Hofgarten is a very beautiful, quaint traditional restaurant in Aschaffe... read more Quaint atmosphere and top-quality meat with room for improvement in the side dishes The Hofgarten is a very beautiful, quaint traditional restaurant in Aschaffenburg with a great atmosphere. We were greeted by very attentive service and felt very comfortable in the historic setting. The quality of the meat dishes is particularly noteworthy: The pork knuckle and the pork shoulder were truly delicious and of high quality. The wild boar cutlet was also well-prepared. However, there is a slight drawback: The side dishes and sauces were a bit of a letdown. Unfortunately, the cutlet was served only with fried potatoes in their skins – we would have preferred classic boiled potatoes as an alternative. Furthermore, the sauces seemed almost identical for several dishes and unfortunately reminded us of convenience products, which is a shame given the otherwise excellent quality of the meat. Nevertheless, we would gladly return, as the overall experience and the hospitality are outstanding. Perhaps the kitchen will take our suggestion regarding the sauces and side dishes to heart – that would make the experience perfect!
