Incredible tour with a great docent who created a, you are there , experience. Beautifully kept grounds and home. Allow 2 hours minimum, but 4 hours would be better to enjoy a meal and gift shopping. View all feedback.
What Gabi Wissmann doesn't like about Houmas House And Gardens Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews:
This place is managed purely commercially. Such a place should actually have the character of a memorial. There is nothing of that to be found here.... Anyone visiting the plantations for the beautiful mansions and gardens should first visit the Whitney Plantation to see and understand the immense human suffering that took place in these places.... We LOVED our visit to Houmas House. The gardens are magnificent! There are things to see and appreciate in every direction you look. I recommend going when you have a few hours to stroll around, take the guided tour of the house, visit the indoor museum, check out the gift shop and enjoy awesome food and drinks all while you are there. Our tour guide was INCREDIBLE! She was such a historian who patiently answered our questions and took time for our photos. The owner is an animal lover. We were able to bring Lollie, my Maltipoo, everywhere we went. This is a great tour for others traveling with dogs OR without! Just go here and have a wonderful time. I would rate higher than 5 stars if that was an option.
20 years ago today, my husband and I were married at Houmas House. We always love to go back to visit and remember what a wonderful day at such a magical place. Houmas House will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Absolutely beautiful home with out of this world restaurants! Sammi, our tour guide, was the very best guide we have ever had…hands down. Very knowledgeable and well mannered! I hate that I only had a $10 bill in my pocket for a tip because she deserved much, much more!
We stayed one night at the Inn at Houmas House, which gave us access to the plantation garden. Exceptional garden and house, the setting is a splendor not to be missed. Special mention for “Charlie”, the property’s parrot who was our favorite.
Who ever does the landscaping here , needs a raise! They are spectacular in their craft. 600 year old trees and every blade of grass is green , even in Louisiana heat!!
