Description

Perched by the Asbury Park boardwalk, this grand old hotel offers a convenient event-friendly location, spacious rooms and genuinely helpful staff, yet struggles with inconsistent upkeep. Guests praise the ballroom and proximity to local attractions but report maintenance issues (broken tubs, AC, screens), billing and communication hiccups, limited/spotty valet parking, a poorly maintained pool, scarce in-room amenities, and unreliable Wi‑Fi. Value feels mismatched to nightly rates—appealing for short-stay event attendees, disappointing for travelers seeking full-service luxury.

What a lovely hotel in Asbury! The rooms are very clean and spacious. My room had a view of the city. It was a cold and windy night, and I could hear the wind whistling through the windows, but the room stayed nice and warm.

This place has clearly seen better days. The upkeep appears minimal, and it seems they only have a skeleton crew to maintain it. The staff was friendly, but the restaurant/café/bar/convenience store only offers the essentials and is just average. Given the proximity to other options, you would likely be better off heading over to the congress hall for more choices. While it's convenient in terms of location, the parking situation is quite frustrating and overpriced for what it is. The rooms have a typical convention center/business hotel decor from the early 2000s. Our windows had broken screens, and the shower fittings were questionable. The place was clean, but overall it just didn't feel good. Ultimately, while the pricing was a factor in our choice to stay here, there are definitely better options available.

My experience was similar to what others have reported, with a noticeable lack of basic amenities like ear cleaners, robes, a mini refrigerator, and a smart TV. I understand these might be considered niche items, but when you're paying $500 a night, I expect some luxury! Additionally, the tub was broken and I found it impossible to reach the front desk, as there were no phone numbers available. If you’re considering spending $400-500 for a room, I would advise against it until they address these issues.

Beautiful old grandmother of a hotel that was surprisingly modernized. Beautiful, super helpful staff, especially the reception employee Liam. Very recommended would come back.

So we stayed 2 nights. Upon check in, we were trying to Valet Park our car. Well at 1:30 in the afternoon we were told there were no spots!!!! Go look for street parking. We were told there were 85 spots and 150 rooms. So mostly everyone coming here is driving a car. So we drove around for about 35 minutes and found a meter spot. Till the next morning, then when people checked out, we were able to valet. So they need to fix the parking situation. Meanwhile the whole weekend, a white Porsche was parked in the fire lane of the entrance of the hotel. Our room was ready a little early, so that was a plus. The room was spacious and clean. No refrigerator, if you want one, they bring it for a fee. Never seen that. The hotel is old, but was centrally placed. Right near the boardwalk. They had a pool, that seamed to be crowded. There was a nice place to grab a bite to eat The Wi-Fi was terrible.
