Late lunch on a Sunday at a family oriented, crowded restaurant. Served a two course meal, Galician soup and chicken (delicious dark meat) with potatoes. The food served family style was regional and generous in portions. Truly appreciated the owner allowing us to watch the Formula One Grand Prixe Barcelona and allowing us to stay for the satisfying race ending with a comfortable feeling from a great meal.
Simple Galician cuisine cooked expertly. I found this place faultless motivated me to write my first Tripadvisor review in a while ! We were a party of 5 and tried the Caldo gallego, sopa de fideo and croquetas all fantastic. We followed this with carne asada and osobusco simple but perfectly cooked. Of the deserts, the tarta de queso horno was spectacular. Great price, friendly service, homely setting. Considered getting a taxi back the following day despite staying 30km away !
This restaurant was recommended by the staff at La Casona de Nene. It is in a quiet back street and very unassuming from the outside. You access the dining room via the kitchen where two little Galician ladies in their 80's are preparing food. The pumpkin soup was probably the best I've ever tasted and the pulpo superb. Unusually for me, I couldn't finish the meal! Highly recommended.
Having eaten in Northern Spain every night for the last 34 days, I have to say I was disappointed with our food this evening, we have eaten in some of the best restaurants along the Camino and this was the most expensive but the the food did not match the price! However the wine was good!
Casa Chelo is off the beaten track, in an unpromising looking side street in Arzua but it is a gem of a restaurant. On arrival we were walked through the kitchen which was spotless before sitting down in a very traditional dining room. All our fellow diners were local people which we took as a good sign. The food, wine and service were all excellent. Great value for a special lunch along the Camino.
