Saturday evening visit. Lamb dinner for 1 and mussels in tomato sauce for 1 Both delicious as usual. Will be back on our return to the area later in the year.
We went here for dinner mainly because of the TA favourable reviews. All I can say is that this establishment must have changed hands since the were written. We arrived quite early in the evening, I think we were the first diners of the night. A pleasant setting under a nice illuminated veranda. The English waitress was quick to bring us the menu and took our drinks order, a bottle of the house red, very competitively priced at only six euros. My wife ordered the sea-food platter with Canaries potatoes and I opted for the 'special ' of the day, grilled salmon with Cath 's garlic sauce. First surprise, We 've no potatoes. Chips only. On reflection, we should have walked at that point. What kind of 'restaurant ' runs out of potatoes at 7pm mid-week? We were about to find out. She brought the wine and the first sip revealed why it was so cheap. It was thin and acidic. They couldn 't have paid more than a euro for it. Fortunately there was water to drink. The waitress came with the food when the 'sea food platter ' was set down my wife looked at it in horror. On the plate were six breaded scampi, six calamari and six king prawns, all deep fried, plus a mound of chips. There was a small amount of salad leaves and a few pieces of chopped up lemon plus three plastic sachets of mayonnaise. My salmon and garlic sauce was also accompanied by the same garnish and a large side of chips. I had to exchange plates with my wife who doesn 't much like deep fried food. I resigned myself to eating a disappointing meal. The 'sea food platter ' cost 13.5 euros. Ar the first taste, one of the breaded scampi, my mouth was assailed by taste vile, over-used cooking oil, and I and at the same time I became aware of the stench of rancid grease which was creeping out of the kitchen growing stronger and more vile by the second. To cut a long story short we could not get out of there fast enough. I could not be bothered to complain. Just paid the bill and left. The salmon and Cath 's 'special ' garlic sauce? The salmon was overcooked and the garlic sauce was foul.
There's plenty choice at Cath's Corner and the service is very friendly. They had sold out of one dish but recommended a tasty alternative. Plenty on offer for vegetarians too. Worth a visit.
We found this restaurant in the corner of el silencio we walked in and the english waiter a young lad was very welcoming he sugested the special of the evening which was steak and onions with veg chips or mash it was mouth watering then we had a white chocolate cheesecake with ice cream fantastic all for 10 euros it is such a homely place and i think it is the best in el-silencio i give it 12 out of 10
