Gateway Grill - Armstrong

Took 1.5 hours to prepre dinner terrible. We waited for ever. They were not able to handle their business.

We arrived for our tour group reservation of 12 people and were well taken care of. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The warm and friendly staff made us feel very welcome.

We came for bubble tea and we’re disappointed that is it just a summer thing here. We stayed for dinner. Service was fast and polite. Food was ok but not for the price they charge. Then again everything is super expensive now. I had jager schnitzel my kid had the pesto pasta dish. So two schnitzels and a pasta came to almost $100. It was good but, for me, not $100 good. You did get a decent amount of food though.

We read a few recent reviews saying that the service was slow at the Gateway and that was not the case for us at all! The service was very fast, and really friendly. Staffing is an issue everywhere right now, and we expected to wait, and were really happily surprised when our dinner arrived as we were just finishing our appetizer. The food was plentiful and good (not great, but good enough)... and very solid value. The Happy Hour deals were great, and the staff were attentive and hardworking. It just felt a bit like this place was trying to be too many things . It really is a decent little restaurant/bar, with a friendly cozy vibe. But Expresso Bar and Bubble Tea ? We would initially not have gone into the restaurant except that we were really hungry after a day of hiking and it was one of the few places open at the time. As it turns out, we were satisfied with our choice and really appreciated the quick service.

We stayed at the Clearwater Lodge hotel, making it very convenient to dine at their restaurant, which served excellent food! The salad I ordered was huge and delicious. The gravy in the poutine was amazing! However, the cheese used in the poutine was shredded cheese instead of cheese curds, which could be something they consider changing in the future.
