Arrived about 2.30 and the 'specials ' were still on until 3.00. Had a lovely light brunch and due to being wheat free they quickly adapted the 'special ' dish to suit my needs. Very pleasant and helpful and I really enjoyed it. View all feedback.
What MeganRni doesn't like about Alexanders Of Markethill:
The restaurant is self service which is fine if the staff explain the options. Unfortunately this didn't happen and my daughter ended up with a small portion of chicken goujons and rice for £8. I asked if she could have chips and was advised that they have to be ordered separately. Confusing! A pot of tea at almost £2 was expensive, although the traybakes were nice. Wouldn't visit again. Visited to look round the shop, then stopped at the restaurant were very attentive staff looked after our choice of meal. Lovely food and good sized portions. The shop itself is also well worth a visit.
I have been to Alexanders several times before and although I never found it particularly amazing, I never felt the need to make a complaint until yesterday. Four friends plus myself went for lunch and a wander around the shop. When we went to order our lunch, the waitress appeared distracted, talking to another waitress on the floor. When our lunch came the order was incorrect. When we explained what we had ordered the waitress who had taken the order came to our table and stated that she had taken the order and what we had got was what we had ordered. Stated that maybe we had meant to order something else but hadn't! Basically called us liars! I felt this behaviour was inappropriate and very confrontational! We had desserts along with tea/coffee. The Victoria sponge was dried up, cheesecake tasteless, and tiramisu made with bought sponge and little coffee flavour. All in all not a very pleasant lunch. If I had have seen someone who I thought looked like management I would have spoken to them at the time, but that was not to be. I would be very reluctant to return.
We stopped for coffee and had a delicious home made scone morning. Found we had delay in pm and needed a snack.Returned to get the same warm welcome and fairly-priced lunch sandwich.well done!!!Very clean, staff all very friendly.l
Dropped in while shopping in the store with the Boss, nice coffee, great selection of afternoon tea type eats, bit pricy, but very nice food and staff were excellent
