Scratchboard Kitchen has outdoor and indoor spaces to enjoy food. The food is all made from scratch as the name implies and you can tell. Savory tasting made with fresh ingredients. We started with a pastry board which I would recommend. It was 3 pastries that 3 of us were able to share. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with a poached egg. What Erin Blackburn doesn't like about Scratchboard Kitchen:
I ordered the chicken biscuit sandwich. The biscuit was really dry and the chicken was lukewarm. It obviously had been sitting in a warmer and isn't freshly made for you. Pimento cheese on the sandwich was congealed. The waiter never came back to check on us after we received our food and it's not absolutely worth sending it back. It's really overpriced and overrated. We started with a pastry board which I would recommend. It was 3 pastries that 3 of us were able to share. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with a poached egg. It was served on a huge buttery biscuit The chicken sandwich looked fabulous, also served on a biscuit. I added a side of crispy potatoes. We didn't order **** Mary's, but they looked incredible and thumbs up were given. The service was great. I would definitely visit again. I was full and needed a box to take food home.
We really enjoyed our experience here. Our server was so knowledgeable and continued to check in without being overbearing. The food was delicious, and was sourced locally, which made it even better. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Also, the potatoes were phenomenal, and would highly recommend ordering them.
Fantastic brunch spot with a great outdoor patio and lovely interior space. Definitely worth booking a table ahead if you want to sit outside (at 11am on a sunny Sunday zero wait for indoors and an hour wait for the outdoor table). I had an avocado toast which was lovely, my friend had the short rib hash. The French toast latte was amazing (I had it iced as it was a warm day). Will definitely be back!
Incredibly good food! Highly recommend! his is my third visit and I 've never been disappointed. While I would LOVE larger portions, I had the good fortune to speak with Grace Goudie, the head chef. She explained the two factors behind the potion sizes. 1) Health most Americans incorrectly view larger portions as standard . Portions at Scratchboard Kitchen adhere to FDA guidelines 2) Cost control all ingredients are sourced locally vs. mass production. 5/6 Another great meal! Although they have switched the menu to spring offerings, I was able to get one of the last servings of the BoHo Hash from the winter menu. I would describe the winter fare as hearty comfort food, yet somewhat delicate as well. 6/4 I 've eaten here six times in five days (breakfast and lunch on Thurs, 6/2). I can not say enough about how delicious the food is. Even the simplest of dishes (Truffle Grilled Cheese and the Everyday Classic Bacon and Eggs with potatoes) have an intensity of flavor and freshness that I have not found anywhere else.
*update: the manager(? refunded the charge for the extra toast and gave me a 10 dollar gift card to their store. I won 't be going back but I 'll give the gift card to a friend who wants to try this place. great ambience and very nice patio area. I made a reservation in advance and we were seated promptly. Ordered the dutch baby pancakes, lamb shakshouka, strawberries and creme french toast, avocado toast, and a side of potatos. Also ordered 2 lemonades, 1 cold brew coffee, and 1 medium roast coffee. Our server seemed friendly but it was extremely difficult to get her attention. We asked for a refill for the medium roast coffee and had to remind her after about 5 minutes. It took her another few minutes to return with the coffee. It seemed like she was doing her best NOT to look at our table. I also asked for a REFILL for my cold brew only to find out later (when I got home and checked the receipt that I was charged for the refill. My refill coffee arrived about ten minutes afer my request. We were already finished eating by then. The lamb shakshouka came with 4 slices of toast and I thought it was nice and thoughtful of the server to give us 4 pieces since we were a party of 4. Found out that she had charged an extra 2 dollars for the extra toast that we never ordered or requested. By the way, the lamb shakshouka was her recommendation. We tried to get our servers attention to ask for a bill but again, she never glanced our way. Another waitress(? or manager came to check on us..probably because we were trying our best in the politest way to get our server 's attention..and she got us our bill and we paid, gave 20% tip, not realizing that our waitress had over-charged us. Our waitress came by right after we had paid and asked if we 're ready for our bill...Seriously...they need to work on communication amongst the servers. The customers should MAKE SURE TO CHECK THEIR BILLS on the spot cuz they seem to like to charge you for stuff you didn 't order. We won 't be
