We have been coming to Pine Tavern for years. We had patio seating and the temp. was perfect with a mild breeze. We were a party of 6. The Rueben sandwich was very dry.....not much 1,000 Island dressing. One person in our party ordered ginger ale and when he asked for a refill, he was not informed that the ginger ale was not a free refill and charged them for a second drink. What Gussie Wolff doesn't like about Samuel Beckett's Irish Gastro Pub:
Too noisy in the back seating area adjacent to the bar, if your going with people you want to talk too. Very limited seating in the quieter front of the restaurant. Fortunately, it was a nice evening so we could sit at an outdoor table, albeit without the Irish Atmosphere . WARNING: Smoking IS allowed at outdoor tables . View all feedback.
We had dinner for 3. we were immediately greeted and sitting at the door. service after that was bad. our server seemed to deliver through a request for a weinlist that took too long. that had obviously waited in the kitchen. fish and chips were soggy. vol au vent was cool and chewing. only the pasta was hot. I was in the bar several times and always had a good experience. I think I will limit future visits in the bar.
They had heating problems during the last cold letter. it was very cold in the restaurant, but they were very accentuated, dragged us to another table away from the door. fish and chips were good, drinks menu was also good. we want to come back when it's warmer again!
Most American versions of the irish pub fall but caricatures of real thing. not at becketts. that is the real deal! the best irish pub this page of dingel.
Excellent pre-theater (signature theatre in shirlington) for dinner. very good food and menu options. service was good, not intrusive. cozy is a good word to describe becketts when we went on a very cold December night and were very comfortable. highly recommended!
This is a lovely Irish pub with very good basic food. We enjoyed their home made soups, fish and chips, shepard's pie and crab cakes. Quick service and a pleasant atmosphere. We were going to the theatre and this restaurant was the perfect location for proximity and good good.
