Initially we didn’t expect too much given the mediocre review, but the food was actually not bad at all. The portion was very large, so it’s better to have 3-4 people to come together. Some dishes are more like American Chinese food vs authentic Chinese food. The fried rice and long beans were both nicely done. Overall, it’s a nice place for a casual lunch/dinner with families. What mamaD doesn't like about Hunan Gate Restaurant:
I?m not one to write reviews, especially bad reviews, but I couldn?t resist. My boyfriend and I ordered shrimp fried rice, general tsos chicken, Mongolian beef, pan fried dumplings and fried wontons. The general tsos chicken and fried dumplings were good and the shrimp fried rice was okay but as for the rest?.It was an absolute no for me. The Mongolian beef is priced at $15.99 and was 90 percent onion and green onion... View all feedback.
The solitary chicken was great, like the hot and acidic supper. this restaurant also offers a lot of authentic Chinese specialties, in addition.

I have tried so many Chinese restaurants in the area and this one was by far the best. I ordered take out and got chicken fried rice which was super tasty and flavorful. The portion size was huge so great for leftovers!
Not sure why this place has such low reviews. I love eating here! They have wonderful food, both American-Chinese menu and an authentic Chinese menu. Great place for northern style Chinese food, which is hard to find in this area. Big portions. The dumplings are my favorite, you can tell they’re homemade!
I don’t understand why there are so many bad reviews, this is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. The dumplings are definitely hand made and fresh and absolutely the best item on the menu. I’ve had several dishes and they’ve all been good, the pork elbow is a great pick if you’re looking for something a little different.
