My companion had lamb with cheesy cauliflower and potatoes. Ate every bite, lamb was prepared correctly as in rare, the cauliflower was served hot and stayed that way. The house rosé is crisp and light. Service: staff was hustling, it was very hot in the kitchen, and apologetic for not speaking English, forgetting items, etc. But honestly, our server had had a bit to drink. Not seriously impaired, but jovial and unsteady in setting the plates on the table. On a Sunday night, it was a steady stream of customers. Patrons assisted as they were able with translation services across parties. most everyone was in a fine mood except for one impatient couple. They were tired after a long day of travel and had not successfully switched to holiday mode just yet. They liked their pizzas very much, but were rightly justified in their dissatisfaction over the service. In a nut shell: Good Food! But, don’t be in a hurry. You’ll be disappointed if not open to the vicarious joy of the bad boys running the place.
I liked the location (across from the arena) of La Romaine, so settled in for an al fresco lunch. I ordered am aperol spritz (delicious) and the champignons fromage pizza, at 12.50 EU. The pizza was quite large for one person (they let me take half home) and very tasty with the exception of canned mushrooms, which I would not have ordered had I known. So do order the pizza, but do ask about ingredients first. A lovely cafe a bit further down was using lovely heirloom tomatoes from amidst bins of them for their hand crafted sandwiches, so it's difficult to give La Romaine anything better than average despite the very good cocktail.
I have tried to come with my father that is 83 years old to sit and enjoy the place, but because he is old I had to check that the toilets are accessible . The response was to lock the door in my face and ignore me completely . It might be because the place do not have any English speaker , but I would expect that in tourist area . Or the place is not accessible ! Very bad experience for me and my father
Very good discovery to Arles. We weren't too hungry and to avoid the waste we could have a dish for two. a very rich and excellent dish. I've been to the carbo as we love them. a very kind and attentive server. I really recommend this restaurant.
A comical and humorous waiter! Promised we begin at last, especially my fiancé; Nice place next to the arenas! No car, no noise! Quick and efficient service! And it is as short as happiness for a first restaurant in Arles Signé des Nimois at rest!
