Reviews - Macgochan's
Reviews summary
Macgochans’s restaurant has garnered attention for its scenic marina views and a varied menu, yet dining experiences remain inconsistent. Many guests praise the generous portion sizes and friendly staff, highlighting the seafood platter and steak pie as standouts. However, service issues and unexpected charges have left some patrons disappointed, particularly families with dietary restrictions. While the food quality is generally regarded as decent, some found it overpriced for what was offered. Overall, Macgochans appeals to visitors seeking a relaxed meal, though caution is advised regarding the bill and menu options.

Don't like the added service charge i prefer to tip as i see fit to the service provided to me, and who knows if the staff receive this
Meal only so so service ok but didn’t appreciate the inclusion of an inclusive service charge which you are supposed to be informed about at the till. Popular but I don’t know why, bit of a captive audience

Great restaurant and super nice employees. Unfortunately the food was just mediocre. The burger could have been juicier, but unfortunately the patty was very dry. And everything could be a little more seasoned. But that's a matter of taste. Upon our arrival, we were informed that this restaurant is typically quite busy, and after being seated, we quickly understood why. The staff were welcoming, and the portions were generous. During our three-night stay in the area, we had the opportunity to sample several of their specialties, including the Beer Battered Haddock, the Cheeseburger (just a note for health safety, the burgers are cooked well-done), and the Steak Pie. There's also a great selection of local beers, and if you prefer whiskey, I highly recommend trying a dram from the Tobermory Distillery.
