We stopped off here for a coffee in a very tranquil and cool square. Although we only wanted coffee we could not have been made more welcome. Would definitely go back when in Argeles and would make it our norm. View all feedback.

What a superb place, we popped in for a coffee and a bite to eat, the staff were wonderfully friendly, polite and professional the setting is fantastic and the tea/coffee superb. Whilst they weren't serving food when we arrived they directed us to a patisserie through their house and invited us back to eat at the cafe. Superb, superb, superb.
We have been visiting and traveling around France for over 30 years and until today we were NEVER requested to vacate our table! The convention in France is that you can sit at your table as long as you want if you have purchased a drink or something to eat. That has been our experience in the busiest of cities, including Paris, Lyon, and Nice and other areas of the coast. Apparently, it is NOT the standard here! We did some shopping in the market and stopped for coffee at this establishment on the square. Many others were doing the same. After relaxing for a few minutes, my wife went across the small square to purchase some fruit. A guitar and saxophone duo started playing nearby. I was considering suggesting to my wife that we have a small beer and listen to much-missed live music before heading off, when I was approached by one of the proprietors and asked to vacate the table. I was shocked ... at the time and still now a few hours later! We saw no one else being asked to leave and can only assume it was because we were an obvious target being neither French nor fluent visitors. Very disappointed!
We visited Argeles last year had a few reasons to return with this being one of them delicious coffee served with a freshly baked treat in a lovely terrace setting in the town square. Super friendly guys who also gave us some tips about places to visit.
Nearly every Tuesday during the summer they have a dance. We always go to L'Hostalet for the evening. The hotel is owned by two very charming young men (well certainly younger than me). Nothing is too much trouble and the drinks are reasonably priced.
This is part of the hotel. It serves a limited but good selection of beer and wine. It also does an excellent breakfast. It's situation is ideal, set in the square with shade.
