we had an incredible experience. the personal and the owner were so nice and made some chips in new oil so they will not be fried in the same oil as other foods with gluten. they were very aware of the allergens and have paid no attention to our needs. eating was amazing, great tacos for cheap on taco Tuesday and the huarache court is amazing. but would eat here when we are in arcata! highly recommended for food and... This restaurant serves fantastic sopes, carnitas, and other lunch or dinner options. The customer service is excellent, the food is high-quality, and the indoor kitchen is pleasant.

I have been coming to this restaurant for nearly 20 years and I plan on continuing to eat here for another 40 if I can. I absolutely love Carmela.

The restaurant is nice, but my main issue is with the food. Every time I order Burritos here, they are very watery, like cutting into a water balloon. They are filled with large chunks of partly raw veggies that overwhelm the dish (I always remove them and am left with a soggy tortilla). Additionally, the staff is friendly but the service is lacking. My family and I waited a long time for the check, and my dad had to go inside to pay. The food at Carmelas in Mckinleyville is delicious and one of my favorites. However, the cook at the Arcata location needs to be replaced or improve their Burrito production. I hope they can make improvements or refund my money.
