This restaurant came highly recommended by two locals, including one who knows the area well. I'm always on the lookout for good bagels outside of New York. I tried the Grandpa Goren, which comes with lox, cream cheese, red onions, and capers. I intended to eat just half, but I ended up devouring the entire thing! I couldn't even wait to take a picture before taking a bite. It’s tough to compare it to New York bagels—personally, I think the best test is to try it with just plain cream cheese to see if it’s crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. My husband, who tests bagels with cream cheese and toppings, insists it's quite good as well. There was a long line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. There are plenty of picnic benches outside for seating, and the interior was kept very clean.
They offer a fantastic menu with plenty of options, and you can even create your own sandwich. If you're new to the area or just passing through, be sure to grab some Larrupin sauce and a bottle of their incredible 'slug slime' to take home—it's definitely worth it! They also have a great selection of merchandise and local products available for purchase. While it may seem a bit pricey, the quality is excellent and worth every penny. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick. Plus, I was impressed by their Covid safety measures—everyone was masked, there was no indoor dining, and the outdoor tables were nicely spaced. I felt completely safe and comfortable during my visit.
Without a doubt, this is the best bagel shop I've ever visited! If you're in the area, you absolutely have to check it out. The bagels are generously sized and made fresh using top-quality ingredients. My personal favorite is the Slug Bagel, famous for its incredible flavors. You can also buy their delicious dips to take home. On this visit, I enjoyed the bagel topped with cream cheese, lox, capers, and red onion, and it was simply amazing!
Good bagels, but $4.25 for a bagel with cream cheese... A little expensive. $6 for each protein (Bacon, Lox, etc.). No indoor seating, all terrace and parking table. Beautiful when the sun shines
While on a road trip through the area we decided to stop here for breakfast. The vibe/energy was great and the food was even better. The service was quick and the employees were happy to answer all of our questions since the menu is pretty extensive with sooo many options. Delicious coffee, amazing bagels, great service. 100% 5/5 stars. Don't miss this place.
