What User doesn't like about Red Poppy Bistro:
During our travels, we stopped at this restaurant for lunch and found the venue to be great and the staff really nice. However, we were disappointed with the food - the satay skewers had no satay, the chips were cold, and the salad had no dressing. We were unable to eat it and left very disappointed. Visiting Ararat while staying at Moyston. Main menu was a variety of chicken schnitzels and chicken dishes but there was a specials menu that had a roast and a beef schnitzel choice. Partner had beef schnitzel, chips and gravy (only plain gravy available) and I had roast lamb. We sat out on the balcony overlooking the park so we could have our dog tied up on the fencing next to us. Meal was quickly delivered. My partner said his beef schnitzel was grissley. Lamb roast came with boiled/roast potatoes, peas, mint sauce, parsnip and carrots and gravy. Was a good portion.
Ordered a Seafood Plate... what I got was 2 burnt oysters, 2 chewy calamari, 3 shrimps & a fish I couldn't find inside thick batter. My partner ordered the chicken curry... 4 minute pieces of chicken buried in liquid rice.
We have stopped off here a number of times for dinner when travelling through to Melbourne or Geelong. We had fish for dinner, which was a good choice. I ordered a half size and it was plenty for me. My partner ordered the normal size which he struggled to finish.
Service started out great with the first drinks arriving quickly along with the appertiser. Somehow our order got misplaced and we had to ask for our mains.
