Great Chinese tucker, so many choices, Tom Ym soup was yummy and the Seafood Hot Pot with extra chillie certainly helped on a typical Ararat cold night, staying at the delightful motel was also a bonus. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Candles Restaurant:
Ate here last week, definately have had better chinese elsewhere but it was ok.The waitress was very friendly and food came out fast and hot. Meals are large and reasonably priced. Only tried 2 dishes and rice so maybe other dishes would be better. We ordered the combination with cashew nuts and wasn't a cashew nut in the whole dish so not sure what happened there.Very quiet little restaurant, convenient if you are s... View all feedback.

During a road trip as a small group we ate at this restaurant. It was quite disappointing overall. One young waitress tried her best to be attentive in the initial stages but after that we have few compliments to offer.Staff members squabbled loudly with other guests, dishes were ridiculously small, and it was very hard to get a waitress to take additional orders, or to clear dishes away.Candles is definitely not up to scratch and should be snuffed out.
This restaurant is attached to the Econo Lodge and, as we were staying at the motel, we chose the convenience of eating here. While the premises are very basic, the staff were friendly, the service was prompt and the food delicious. Would definitely eat here again.
This restaurant is attached to the Statesman Motor Inn and by any account the décor is plain as the pix denote .As we had locals as visitors it was easier to order the banquet for 4. Doing this brings you all the standards such as chicken and corn soup, wontons and dumplings as starters and then lamb [ Mongolian ] chicken [lemon ] pork [ plum ] and calamari. All were above average but not very adventurous. We would have maybe preferred to try some of the chillli dishes for example. But the banquet was OK, the food hot and well prepared.Service by the young staff as quick enough but lacked any sense of involvement with the clients, just doing their job. Value was OK at around $32 per head for quite a feed.Would not rave about the place on the basis of our experience but it certainly is popular with the locals - enough said. It is the only Chinese in town.
This restaurant offers a wide variety of T2 teas, making it the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing and distinctive cup of tea.
