When visiting Aranjuez, you are in a town which is full of restaurants and on arrival at the Royal Palace you will be “attacked” by men providing details of one or other of these restaurants. So save yourself time and go here. Not the best in town I am sure but you will be be treated well. Friendly, helpful service, fair prices and a good selection of raciones to eat whilst surrounded by happySpaniards.
My friend and I arrived at El Almirez after a two hour walking tour. We were starving but knew we wanted to eat here because of their vegan/vegetarian options, of which there were many. We ordered the vegan hamburger (7 euros , potatoes with parsley and garlic (5.5 euros , a vegetable pastry (hojaldre sandwich (4.5 euros , and three vegetarian (possibly vegan? croquettes (2 euros each . The meal also came with a lot of bread that we did not like. When I was ordering the hamburger, the bartender asked if I wanted carne or vegana (beef or vegan . As soon as I said vegan, he understood that we wanted the entire meal to be at least vegetarian. We ordered a beer and tap water to drink and he brought us a tapa of bread and pate which he assured us was vegan and made from lentils. The bar was relatively empty when we arrived but filled up by the time we left 45 minutes later. Overall, the food was not outstanding, but definitely excellent considering how hungry we were, the price (25 euros total , and how few vegan options we had in the area. The customer service was also a huge bonus. If we are ever in the area again, we will return. But until then, we can definitely recommend this place for their vegan/vegetarian options to anyone else looking for somewhere to eat.
Plenty of salads but also for Vegans the main choices are: rolled courgette with vegetables; Potatoes with garlic parsley; seitan with tomato salsa fries; vegan burger vegan lasagna For veggies more cheese options including a spinach crepe; goats cheese red berries some blue cheese croquetas
This happy moment when you find vegan options in a small town restaurant. Food was not the best I ever had, but it fed me : . We were sitting outside, it was lovely.
Perfect place to stop to refuel on a visit to Aranjuez. Close to the royal palace, outdoor seating area is good and it has the feel of a traditional Spanish bar/restaurant. I had the seitan with tomato salsa which was great! The waiter originally brought me out chorizo and bread as an aperitivo, but once he found out I was vegan he immediately took it away and brought me hummus instead which was wonderful! Great service. I would recommend!
