For years, Chris Hastings and Frank Stitt have held on the the best 3 meals I have ever enjoyed Well, today Chef Edward Reese has moved them down a notch. This was the best meal that I have enjoyed in my 55 years. I had the Oysterman’s casserole. We had snapper throats, grouper cheeks, oysters, collard greens, with a sweet corn bread crust. My lord, delicious! Hats off to this great place. Since 1900. I highly recomm... View all feedback.
What Angie Wyche doesn't like about Owl Cafe:
We’ve been dining here for 20+ years and tonight we left for the last time. We’ve been hoping the new owners would realize maintaining the quality of food is important, but they do not. Very sad to say good bye to our favorite restaurant. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 View all feedback.
After an hour waiting to be served, we ate it in 18 minutes, and it seemed like they wanted to throw us out Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

We 've had dinners and brunches at the Owl before and raved about it. Today 's lunch was just OK. Lunch menu is limited. I asked about the 'catch of the day ' . They said salmon... salmon caught in Apalachicola? I was hoping for grouper. I had an ok Hamburger. $56 for a burger and a wrap. I will go back, but probably not for lunch. I usually don’t leave things like this, but our service here on October 8th was absolutely horrible. Waited 1.5 hours to be notified our table was ready, was told they did not have Au Jus sauce when it was clearly on the menu (and later brought to our table), no side salads, and one of our entrees was never even brought to our table. They “ran out” of half the menu, and did not tell us until they brought us something different than we ordered. The “mashed potatoes” were chunks of tater tots. Never got horse radish with a prime roast meal. And despite all of these things happening, the staff told us that it was Sunday and everyone should calm down because they need the Lord? Not sure if the staff there is on drugs, or if they truly do not care about their job. The staff was cussing like a bunch of unprofessional sailors. But I will be contacting Rex Humphries, your president, and letting him know about our experience. Mind you these are not cheap meals, they are $30+ meals a piece.
