I paid $25 for a... read more This restaurant has been steadily declining since it was located on Contra Loma. The prices are too high for the tiny food portions they serve. I paid $25 for an oxtail plate, which consisted of just two small pieces of tail and two empty bones. They might as well raise the prices a bit more to provide a reasonable portion size. It's simply not worth the cost!

I spent $14 on a ribs and pork chop dinner, and the red beans and rice ended up going in the trash because they were spoiled. The potato salad was watery, and the green beans tasted like they came straight from a can, with just a few unseasoned potatoes thrown in. The sausage link and rib were clearly boiled. This is definitely not soul food; it's just bad!

The food was terrible. Don't waste your time here; it's not worth the price. I spent $14 on a meal that included ribs, a pork chop, and dinner, and it was incredibly disappointing. The red beans and rice were spoiled and had to be thrown away. The potato salad was watery, and the green beans tasted like they came straight from a can, with a few bland potatoes mixed in. The sausage link and (1) rib clearly seemed like they were boiled. This is definitely not soul food; it's simply awful!

I can only imagine how much better it would have been with a crunchy crust. The ribs were excellent and stayed intact during the trip. I really enjoyed the collard greens, though I would have appreciated a piece of pork with them. Unfortunately, the rice was the weakest part of the meal, as it had a watery texture.
