Was Anonym at Casa Do Ensaio a mag?
Had Lunch at this restaurant yesterday with my family, great service very friendly staff, food was yummy I had octopus and prawn kebab with vegetables, I like how you get to choose which side dishes you want instead of always rice, chips and salad, great value for money, have already booked to take visiting family later this month. I can highly recommend. View all feedback.
What Santiago Morais dislikes about Casa Do Ensaio:
Poor service and food when we visited , certainly no encouragement to return . The service very slow , steak was tough and not much on the plate to match the price .. certainly will not be going back .. View all feedback.
We shall be moving to Ansião in January 2019 so wanted to see what was on offer locally. And decided to take friends with us to celebrate. Casa do Ensaio is housed in beautifully renovated building and is an excellent venue for dining. A very warm and genuine welcome awaited us. Not busy that night but still a very good atmosphere. Menu was only in Portuguese which we were very happy with as we need to practise. The waiter was charming and helpful. Food was a mix of traditional flavours with a few twists. All cooked with knowledge and passion. The wine was excellent too as were the dessert. We shall be returning as often as possible especially when friends come to visit from The Algarve. Be great to show what wonderful delights there are in our new town.

This fantastic place provided us with an evening we will never forget. During our stay in Ansiao for a cricket tour a group of us went here for dinner. The welcome we received was exceptional the food 1st class. We had a variety of dishes and all tasted fantastic. We had a great time and were here for a few hours. We really loved it and I would highly recommend a visit to this lovely place.
On our arrival we were greeted warmly and the waiter talked us through the menu. The service was impeccable throughout the meal. The food also was superb. A little bit more expensive than other restaurants in the area but it was well worth it.
Firstly this restaurant has the aesthetics to please any contemporary architect but will satisfy those seeking tradition in this quaint town. Fully restored yet making the old look new rather than just removing the old and replacing it with the new. A mixture of rock clad walls, hard wood floors and modern furniture are the perfect blend between the two worlds. The interior walls are decorated with the countries wine, from the more common brands to the more selective ones. We (my 5 year old son, wife and myself) were immediately greeted at the door by a friendly waiter, resembling more a french garçon in a fine restaurant rather than a server in a small town establishment. This set the tone for our lunch. We were promptly told about the specials of the day which consisted of: -soup -Main (Enosopada de lulas/Squid stew with bread, or Carne de Porco a Portuguesa/Portuguese Pork Dish served with olives and cubed chips and pickles) -Desert (Mousse de Chocolate/Chocolate Mousse served with a garnish of walnuts) -Coffee -Drink *All for 9 Euros each A complimentary snack of coelho com vinigrete (rabbit) was served together with fresh bread in a very traditional pouch. Soup was a hearty plate of caldo verde (Cale and chouriço soup) Mains were served on traditional round clay plates and was delicious and portions were generous enough. My wife and son loved the mousse they shared and my coffee was delicately served and tasty. Upon leaving we were offered to tour the rest of the building which also exhibits local art and is decorated by instruments as this was originally a music house . We didn 't have the time for the tour but it should be interesting for anyone looking for something special in an almost unheard of town in the heart of this magnificent country.
