I've been here several times, I've gotten the fish tacos, steak tacos, chicken tacos, quesadillas and cheese dip. My favorite item there is the blackened fried fish taco, which is always made to order, topped with s citrus slaw. The steak and chicken tacos are good too, with lettuce, fresh pico. What Scott M doesn't like about California Tortilla:
Better than Taco Bell, they have a lot of creative taco choices. I use this place for there tAsty Guacamole and chips. Recommend that you realize that tHis is fast food tacos. Try the walll of hot daises, man they hAve got a ton of them. View all feedback.
Great tacos at a reasonable price—definitely a good deal! The fish tacos are excellent, and the queso is fantastic. Plus, they don't overly promote their food like some other burrito places that go on about clean eating. This is just straightforward, delicious food, and that's all you really need.
I've visited this restaurant several times and have tried the fish tacos, steak tacos, chicken tacos, quesadillas, and cheese dip. My absolute favorite is the blackened fried fish taco, which is always prepared fresh and topped with a citrus slaw. The steak and chicken tacos are good as well, featuring lettuce and fresh pico de gallo. However, they can be inconsistent; sometimes the steak and chicken don't taste fresh and can come across as a bit dry, likely because they've been sitting around. It would greatly improve the experience if all the meats were made fresh. Overall, the food is tasty, and the service is cheerful. Additionally, they have Taco Tuesday, where all tacos are half price all day, which is a fantastic deal for both flavor and value!
This place is better than Taco Bell, offering a wide variety of creative taco options. I especially enjoy their delicious guacamole and chips. Just keep in mind that this is fast food tacos. Be sure to check out their wall of hot sauces—they have an impressive selection!
Can't remember what I got, but I believe it was some sort of burrito. It was actually really good I would say even better than chipotle or Qdoba. Food was on the fresher side Kinda reminded you of Baja fresh (what it used to be like) but newer and more improved.
Bottom Line: Average Mexican inspired food and friendly service in an ok environment. Moments after surrendering my California driver's license at the DMV I found myself inside California Tortilla surveying the menu. Here are my impressions of this quick serve restaurant: I appreciated the friendly and enthusiastic greeting I received. The menu is expansive and I was glad to see my beloved queso on the menu. The Wall of Fire (hot sauce) is a hot idea. I like that you can try dozens of different hot sauces and get a bottle of your favorite to go. My food was ok. I ordered a chicken quesadilla but didn't particularly care for the taste of this chicken as it seemed a bit odd, like it had liquid smoke added to it. I was glad to see they served Coca Cola products here to feed my Diet Coke addiction. The interior I found to be a little worn (e.g. ripped booths) and in need of some updates but was clean. Overall, I didn't find anything at California Tortilla that reminded me of my 12 years in SoCal, and I definitely prefer Qdoba to CT, but I will give California Tortilla another shot the next time I am in the vicinity.
