The building is handmade by the owner. Before Canal, the owner had operated a restaurant in Gobori-bata, Takasaki and Yanagawa-machi. As of 2020, the existing 9-story building at the intersection in Yanagawa-machi was built by the owner of this restaurant. The name "Kuromon" is derived from the gate of Myogi Shrine located behind this restaurant.
