Had a great stay with Country Inn Suites by Radisson in Ankeny, IA. They were very accommodating to requests for late check-in, needing extra towels and late check out. I will definitely stay there again when visiting my daughter at Iowa State. It was only a 30 min drive and a much less expensive stay than in Ames. View all feedback.
What B doesn't like about Country Inn Suites By Radisson, Ankeny, Ia:
Absolutely terrible. Booked King whirlpool suite for our anniversary on their website. Got to hotel to check in and told the rooms were already reserved!!!! I said no I have my confirmation number. The very nice front desk woman Tricia was powerless to make anything happen. This is completely unacceptable!!!! I have NEVER experienced such bs from a hotel. View all feedback.
The rooms are pretty spacious, but they are definitely not clean. Low end 2 star at best. My bed spread had a weird stain on it, the bed was made haphazardly, the room smelled musty, all of the linens had ink blotches on them, the room carpet was stained and in one spot sticky, the air conditioning unit squealed, and the shower had a large colony of pink pigmented facultative methylotrophs (pink soil bacteria growing in it. PPFM takes at least two weeks to reach a colony of that size (12 x8 so it was at least that long since the shower floor had been cleaned. My towels were also threadbare and falling apart. There were weird stains on the bathroom wall by the toilet above the toilet paper. The breakfast also left much to be desired. Aside from a single container of sausage gravy, everything else is packaged Jimmy Dean sandwiches, string cheese, yogurt, bagels, waffles, or shelled hard boiled eggs that tasted like vinegar. The small fridge they were kept in had a weird white condensation inside by the yogurt. At least most of the staff were friendly. Let's just say when I return to Ankeny in 3 weeks, I'll be staying somewhere else.
Country Inn Suites are usually a good bet across the country. This one was no exception. Good location, comfortable room, good value, ect. I posted some pics for you guys. Go ahead and book. There is also a hot/cold breakfast. Not as many options as I'm use to seeing for Country Inn, but it was cool.
This is one of the nicest hotels you will stay at for this price. The staff were super friendly. The only ding I give them is that I couldn't get a late checkout on a Sunday, and I am almost positive they had vacancy for the day. The pool was fun for the kiddos, and the hot tub was clean and stayed hot. Breakfast was kind of lacking from normals like no flavored waffle batter option, no cooked eggs or meat options. But their microwave breakfast sandwiches were good enough for me! Night staff was super friendly, hotel room was quiet, and we all felt safe in the location.
Bit confusing. We thought we got a 4 star hotel- we get there and its 1 at best. Supposed to be adults only in the pool after 10 and they closed the pool instead. Any room that costs over 200$ a night should have both a better breakfast better placement of rooms around large families of children. I've served meals for the homeless and it was a better spread than the hotels, along with that I was placed around large families that both mornings I was woken up from 6:00 AM and onward up to 10:00. We got the hotel to get away from kids. I've worked in the hotel business before for a few years and I'll say I won't be coming back or suggesting this chain.
Super friendly staff, very comfortable and clean room, comfy bed and pillows, nice hot tub. The only improvement I would suggest is eggs and sausage on breakfast bar for the low carb guests.
