Reviews - Thrums
Reviews summary
This tired hotel has mixed reviews with complaints about noise, traffic, and food quality. However, the staff receive praise for being warm and welcoming. The bar food is highlighted as excellent with huge portions. Some guests found the breakfast and dinner options to be disappointing. Prices are considered high for the quality of food. Despite some cleanliness issues and noise complaints, the bar is regarded as friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. Overall, the establishment is a hit or miss depending on expectations and tolerance for noise.

great wee hotel . room was clean and fresh, although the bathroom was on the small side, but that was the only point. great eating and the steak pipe is one has to eat here. would definitely stay back instead of going to dundee. the personal is friendly and the owner is a fellow human, although not my reason for the 5 stars. What Marlene T dislikes about Thrums:
Stayed here for two nights, The staff were lovely, really helpful , the bar food was excellent, huge portions and well cooked. There ends the good stuff ….. Breakfast was served by a lovely lady, who seemed to be doing everything. Service was good and she was pleasant, but the hot food was mediocre. Totally unimaginative cereal, processed juice, and what tasted of cheap ingredients in the cooked breakfast. Our room (... View all feedback.

Awesome pub, best place in town, great staff and Dirty Deeds were the best band of the festival.

Feel bad as staff were lovely but food was terrible.. My son had steak pie.. Steak v chewy and dry.. My salmon was swimming in cream sauce.. Replaced with lamb curry which was bland. I had 2 bites.. Tom soup had loads of cream poured in.. Paid for all apart from salmon.. Disappointing we left to go to co op for more food. Would go back.

Best bar staff and friendliest pub in Kirrie...and very clean....I went in on my own, not something I'm comfortable doing, but the bar staff made me feel very welcome and included.

Totally unimaginative cereal, processed juice, and what tasted of cheap ingredients in the cooked breakfast. Our room (4) had little or no wifi signal, and the double glazing was no match for the traffic passing by 6 feet from the building. The thumping of the juke box in the bar directly below us was turned down after we mentioned it. I hope the owner values his staff, they are truly customer service orientated , but he needs to address issues in this tired hotel.
Visited with my wife and 1 year old for a bite of lunch. The wee man was well attended to and the waitress was really friendly and helpful towards him. Food was proper home cooked pub fayre, I had steak pie and my wife the chicken burger. Both were good sized portions and reasonably priced. Cooked some fish fingers for the wee man and didn't even charge for them a really nice gesture. Atmosphere welcoming and was nice and clean inside. Would recommend if you are in the area.
Visited last week and we had a lovely lunch nice and hot and very tasty homemade food ... BUT why the exact same meals and drinks as couple weeks ago was £6 more expensive? And it wasn’t the eat out help out deal as it wasn’t on the said days . I didn’t question it but will not return as I find a £6 on 2 meals is a massive price increase .
