Found this hidden gem in Inverkeillor via a recommendation from friends. Having eaten in all but 2 of the Michelin starred restaurants in Scotland, chef Garry's tasting menu is at least on a par with Martin Wishart Tom Kitchin and not far off Andrew Fairlie, for sure ahead of some of the newer guys in Scottish Michelin guide. Fast forward 7 years, we decided to celebrate a milestone birthday and anniversary by returning to Gordon’s with our adult children. Our second visit was just as superb as the first – Maria welcomed us personally and Garry prepared a delightful Scottish-themed tasting menu. Garry’s creativity transformed ordinary ingredients into beautifully presented culinary delights. It is truly impressive that Garry conceives and creates all the food himself, from appetizers to desserts. It’s no surprise that Gordon’s has received numerous culinary awards and continues to attract repeat customers, even from afar. The rooms at the inn are comfortable and tastefully decorated in tartan, providing a perfect retreat after dining. The value is excellent, as a delicious Scottish breakfast is included with an overnight stay. Maria and Garry treat their guests like family, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. We highly recommend experiencing Gordon’s to anyone visiting the charming rural area between Scotland's East coast cities, or as a destination in itself. As others have said, you will not be disappointed!
This was our fourth Hogmanay at Gordon’s and it was up to the usual superb standards. We had the Hogmanay Tasting menu and the variety of dishes and flavours were exceptional. We stayed overnight as usual and the room was very comfortable well appointed and breakfast was excellent. Maria (front of house) and her chef son Gary are an amazing double act. The food and service is second to none, even comparing to Michelin star restaurants in the central belt. There is no doubt that we’ll return.

Many of the dishes on his tasting menu just sublime, particularly the duck mousse and salmon, both were so well balanced, well done! Had some fantastic wine served by Maria to accompany the food in a really nice atmosphere, what a wonderful night. I'd heartily recommend this restaurant as one of the very best places to dine in Scotland. Will definitely be back.
Our third visit to Gordon’s Restaurant and once again we were blown away by the amazingly delicious food and really friendly service. Everything we ate was absolutely brilliant. Garry catered for a coeliac and non-cheese eater in our party without any fuss. Maria was lovely-so friendly but also professional. We will be back! Highly recommended.
The tasting menu was beautifully presented, each course tasted amazing. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was great. I highly recommend this restaurant.
