We popped into here for some food on our way back from Pompeii. What a mistake to make! Having been here about 5 years ago with locals the food was great and cheap... I went back with my English speaking family (unbeknown to them I'm a native Italian speaker... we ordered and the quality was awful. When the bill came I was shocked. For 2 pizzas (priced at €2.50 and €3.50 we were charged €10 go figure! We had some fritelle (small bits of fried dough at 50 cents each , a beer and a bottle of water and got charged €25. The waiter couldn't quantify how we were charged and when we asked him to itemise it it came to €26? Complained in Italian, told them they were ripping us off as they don't get passing tourist trade and got €4 back from the owner... who also couldn't justify the bill. Have notified the local finance police. Such a shame...
It was late 8 pm and we were famished for a meal after an all day self tour of Pompei. Coming off the A3 auto strada, we were in Angri. We saw the ristorante sign. A parking attendant directed us into an under ground parking lot. Up in the restaurant, s young Rafaelo who spoke some English waited on us. The food was good, and basic, with a reasonable bill, $28. Euro. The local's eat here on Friday and fill the entire main dining room, with robust conversation! We were the Only out of towners!!
