Amazing food! You have to try the “lapas grelhadas” (the best in all the Atlantic) and the “Fish Alcatra” and for dessert home made milk pudding. Ask Mr Jose for a wine recommendation, he is such a fantastic host. Very attentive! Melinda is also very nice and an amazing hostess! View all feedback.

Meal here was not terrible. I did enjoy getting to try a barnacle for the first time and it’s not that my creamy shrimp Pasta was bad but in my mind it was too salty. And I normally add salt to my meals. My wife had the sirloin steak and it was quite tough which was surprising since I know they are known for there beef on terceira. Enjoyed the local pie for desert. I give 5 starts for outstanding places. 4 for ones I... View all feedback.
Good food on a local restaurant. The specialty fiish alcatra similar to a stew is the king here. Searched by locals and tourists alike. However they only serve portions for minimum 2 people so go with company. Octopus dish is also good and flavoursome, on a generous portion.
Good fish Alcatra (the traditional meal of the island). The service was good but the room is very loud when full. The seafood was somewhat more expensive than other places that we visited in the island.
Most of the food was yummy. The alcatra de peixe was delicious. The grilled lulas… not so much. Service was great.
Had such a nice experience here in boca negra. we enjoyed trying the local barnacles for the first time (according to a short tutorial how to eat them from friendly staff), and the regional fish stew special dish. extremely tasty and unforgettable eating. I want to come back.
We had one of the best meals in azoren (and perhaps our lives) in boca negra! everything was perfect! when we arrived, we had no reservation, but a really nice and friendly waiter told us to call 30 minutes later to see what they could do. we waited patiently outside while we had a few drinks in their caffe and it was so worth waiting. the people are so friendly, the service was amazing and it is so nice to see that the people in boca negra love what they do and have a real pleasure to make their customers happy and to share their knowledge of traditional food. we had cracas (barnacles) and had no idea how to eat them, so our waiter melinda explained how to eat these wonderful seafood without chaos. so fresh and a taste of the sea I will not soon forget. we have also tried favas escoadas (tipical azoren starter with wide bohnen) who were beautiful and perfectly spiced, not to mention the biggest drill I have ever seen! the cabeças de lulas (fried squid heads) were also to die, so soft, well prepared and swim in a delicious sauce. but the star of the show and the reason why we went to boca negra was their alcatra de peixe com espinhas (fish alcatra with fish on the bone). we had the fish on the bone, as it is better tasteful, and to be honest, the bones are quite easy to choose, so if they would not recommend fussy that instead of alcatra without bones. once again, never eat alcatra, we were not too sure how to eat it on traditional wise. melinda saved the day again and explained how to serve him how to remove de fish without breaking it, and how to eat this beautiful alcatra on a truly azor wise, the amazing fresh variety of fishing to do the justness that it deserves. I couldn't stop eating this dish although I was full long before the last spoon of the sose. her mil folhas de ananás (pineapple Mille-Feuille) was a really refreshing way to finish this meal, a thin baked with a mild sweet pineapple mousse covered with fresh pineapple pieces. it was so special that as soon as we have left, we have made it our mission to find an Alcatra tonpot to restore this beautiful meal home. many thanks for such a wonderful experience and meal in boca negra! recommend it to everyone and will definitely be back when we are back in terceira!
