A routier just on the right hand side of the N10 just south of Mansle. We went with friends for the evening meal a fixed price with starter, main, dessert.wine included some dishes such as duck carried a small supplement. Very good value with an excellent well stocked buffet, loads of sea-food. Mains substantial and tasty. Fairly basic decore but friendly helpful service. Easy to park. A bar for pre meal drinks. What Cloyd Kemmer doesn't like about La Cantine:
The day after Les Remparts. Dinner on Monday. Lots of places closed but not La Cantina. Thank you. Good service and tasty food though chip rich. The brochettes were fine and a good place to sit. All in all OK. View all feedback.

Lovely place, in one of the tinly little streets in Angouleme. Can sit in or out. Staff great, nothing is too much trouble and the food is tremendous. You must try one of the platters - i tried steak and duck and both were beautiful!!!a must if in the area!!
There are many good restaurants in this city, we ate here as there was room! The staff were excellent and the food simply amazing, freshly cooked and with very generous portions, particularly the home made burgers, delicious.
We had a good meal here, in the characterful interior. Excluding wine, 50€. Good service, enough English spoken for us.
We had one day in Angouleme and were ready for lunch. We were walking by and read the menu and decided to stop into La Cantine. It was full of people, mostly locals (a very good sign, in our view) and we were very happy with our food and the service. Once the woman who sat us upstairs realized we were American, she assigned a lovely waitstaff, Nicholas, to serve us. He was very informative and helped us make good choices. I got a mixed salad with brie/fig jam on toasts and bacon, my husband got a meat plate - with a small bowl of tartare (which he loved) and some ounces of beef, also a large salad with camembert. Even the coffee was delicious! We would highly recommend this as a great lunch spot if you are Angouleme.
