What an amazing location overlooking the river and an old bridge. A fine dining experience when it comes to the food however the service was very much casual and disapointing. Many things could be improved and even though the waiters were trainees, some mistakes remain unacceptable. We were not offered any water and had to ask for it. The wine we had ordered was brought to the table unopened and once again, we had to... View all feedback.
We were a party of four and were the first to arrive for dinner service. We requested our apertif to be served on the terrace so we could enjoy the beautiful view. It took more then twenty minutes to receive our drinks, hard to understand as we were the only ones there at the time. When we moved to the dinning room almost all the tables were filled. We did not expect quick service, but we did expect service! We finally received our bottle of wine which was only poured for us once. We had to get up from our table, retrieve our bottle and serve ourselves. The maitre d'hotel and his assistant avoided eye contact, we felt purposely ignored. This is not the treatment expected at a restaurant of this stature. The food that we did receive was very good, though after 2-1/2 hours waiting for our dinner we left. Our experience could have been so much better if we were communicated with and not ignored. We then had to wait ten minutes just to find out how much to pay but they could not figure it out. We left our address and phone number, as we are locals, so they could contact us with the amount. We were in a hurry as we needed to get to another restaurant!! Needless to say, we will not return.
We had been intending to visit for a number of years finally got around to it. The location is beautiful, with spectacular views, particularly from the terrace. We were fortunate to book a table on the terrace, but wished we had booked an earlier time (say 7) to make the most of the view. The staff were friendly welcoming if slightly more formal than most in the area. My foire gras starter was the highlight of my meal, and the Duck (main) was also pretty good. The wine selection was good with a range of prices. Two of our party were badly bitten by mosquitoes, so if you are prone to mossies then bring repellent. All in all an enjoyable if rather expensive experience
The hotel has a stunning view of the river Gard below, and you can look up the steep canyon. Since the refurbishment, costs went up and service was not speedy, but this isn't unusual in many other places. The upgrade to a sort of California modern style of furniture is nice, and subtle color combinations enhance the dining experience. There are large windows, and the food is very good. They seem to be aiming at a high level of food and service, and whether they will succeed was still uncertain in our visit. Everything was very good but don't order any drink specials without first asking the cost if price is an issue. This is one of my favorite stops in the area but most were made prior to the changeover. We were 7 and all had a great dinner!
Beautiful and personal environment very welcoming and what is served you a pure pleasure. ado and redo
