House wine, the red was too cold to enjoy. I tried a first course called "Papalina", which is halfway between Boscaiola and Carbonara. The mountain appetizer is good, especially the part of the cold cuts.
We actually went to Anagni for the food, because we were disappointed with the tourist-trap dives in Sorrento. Our dinner at Grappolo d'Oro was excellent. First, this place gave us great antipasti. I had something like Tres Bruschettini, which was three bruschetti with a variety of vegetarian toppings. My wife had prosciutto and melon, which would have been enough for the meal. The house wine went down easy. The gnochi al gorgonzola was superb, and my wife had a traditional picante dish that I can't remember the name of. There were about 10 other diners in the restaurant, eating by candlelight. We tried four or five restaurants in Anagni, and we had the best experience here, but that may be just our luck in ordering the right things here.
Late lunch while in Anagni. Basic and simple but perfectly cooked main courses with perfectly drinkable house wine. A short menu on the blackboard at the door provided nothing gluten free for one of our party and the kind and friendly waitress made up a wonderful salad, checking the ingredients carefully. Good value. Spotless loos!
Taglioni fatti a mano e carne davvero tenera !!
