Family-run, small and unpretentious, this out-of-the-way restaurant doesn’t need tourists to boost its income. The restaurant was full of locals. Last Thursday, June 30th, my co workers and I went to celebrate a friend 's birthday. We spoke with the owner of this restaurant who told us that the most expensive dish would be 30 euros, with several doses of leitão piglet or suckling pig. Last Thursday, June 30th, my co workers and I went to celebrate a friend 's birthday. We spoke with the owner of this restaurant who told us that the most expensive dish would be 30 euros, with several doses of leitão piglet or suckling pig. Each dose corresponded to 8 pieces for 4 people and the first dose that was given to us was cold. After repeating the order, it was told be the owner that if we ordered one more dose the price would exceed the initial 30 euros so far we had eaten 4 pieces of leitão , 2 of them cold. In the end, we all paid the equivalent to 4 entire leitões and ate only 4 pieces.

Family owned rest specializing in suckling pig. We were served by a son of the chef, aka “my mother,” who we met after dinner. We order shrimp rice and suckling pig, which came with salad. Note that the olives, bread, butter and cheese all costs, but minor charges. With wine, water and the entrees, our bill was 20€/person. Lovely people and food!

We found this restaurant by chance stumbled across it as we were making our way to a free Fado performance in the town center. So, after on initial exploration of the area, came back to a delicious surprise for dinner. The place was simple but the folks who served us (looked like the owners) were very friendly and helpful. Later, we heard it 's a fave of the locals and the 'go to ' place! So glad to have dined there on our only night in Coimbra. TIP: It is tucked down an alleyway of what appears to be abandoned buildings so be sure to look for the sign.
