I visited this delightful restaurant after discovering it featured in scenes from the ITV series Van Der Valk—a detail that instantly intrigued me. Stepping inside, I was greeted by a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, complete with beautiful period furniture that added to the setting's historic charm. The food was excellent and the service was charming. Adding to the charm was the restaurant’s 19-year-old resident cat, who slept gracefully like a seasoned host. The entire ambiance felt like a scene from another time—cozy, cultured, and quietly magical. Highly recommended for fans of the show, lovers of characterful spaces, and anyone who appreciates excellent cuisine served with a side of history. Price per person: €10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Could not recommend this place more. The mayonnaise, made in-house, is so delicious I couldn’t forget it. And having come back, it’s even better than I remembered. I had steak, served with a lot of really nice fries (with the amazing mayo) and salad, and a carafe of red wine. Everything absolutely delicious. It’s also an old old place, 1900ish, with loads of history. The journalists used to hang out here and from what I see, the older ones still do. There are books and papers to read if you’re dining alone. The prices are great, staff are lovely and it’s far too quiet for touch a treasure. Price per person: €20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: I have allergies and they were able to help me no problem. Everything is made from scratch so easy to modify

We went for a quick bite to eat and this cafe did not disappoint! Service was fast, kind, and helpful. Food was delicious! The onion soup was some of the best I’ve ever had! Definitely recommend this unique cafe!

Me and my girl went to the Café Scheltema (we found through Google Maps). In fact, after we visited once we had to visit again because it was very tasty and enjoyable. The place is warm (literally), with wonderful service and a welcoming and excellent chef !!! Thanks.
