My husband is an ice cream lover so this diner was one of his favorite spots for milk shakes, root beer floats and banana splits! Service wasn’t the best all the time but the outside seating was nice and shady. It’s located in the Market also known as Culinary Hall. View all feedback.
What Rose O doesn't like about 1950's Classic American Diner:
The decor pretty nice. The servers were attentive. But the food needs improvement. My eggs were supposed to be over medium. Some parts were raw. The same with the pancakes. They were not fluffy instead they were undercooked and hard to swallow. The bacon was almost burnt. The hash potatoes and sausages were alright. The fruit was the only thing that tasted as good as they should. View all feedback.
La comida súper rica, totalmente americana pero súper rica
Para desayuno, los huevos benedictinos deliciosos
Walked in about 8pm. Three or four tables, so not too busy. We were seated outside and waited 10 minutes before we came inside assuming they forgot about us. Sat inside, right next to the register and were promptly ignored for another 5 minutes. This is where it goes downhill. My wife ordered water and stuffed jalapeños, I got a side of fries and a coke. What came out was a warm bottle of water, a warm xan if w coke and a glass of ice, a plate of fries and bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. Being vegetarians, that was a problem as the menu described them as jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, then battered and deep fried. So, we asked to return them and get a grilled cheese sandwich. The waiter said fries ?, to which my wife replied yeah, just like on the menu . About five minutes later she was presented with a plate of French fries with three slices of American cheese melted on top. We were so confused I didn 't even get a picture. We then had to explain, again, that we wanted griiled cheese and fries. The grilled cheese was good, if a bit soggy. Fries were great. $2 Coke was so warm that the ice melted before I drank it all. One star for service, one star for good fries. Also, mayonnaise is in a bottle on the table even though it clearly says, in Spanish, that it should be refrigerated. When we brought it up, nobody seemed concerned at all. The lighting also makes everything kind of pink, hence the strange color of the pics attached.
Breakfast is from 8 11am. On our first day, we arrived around 10:30 and they told us the couldn't sit us because they took the last orders since it would be a little past 11 by the time they finished the last order. In my opinion, if you advertise 11am... then you should take your customers in until 11am. Anywho, we came the next day to try it out I ordered the waffle, pancakes, and veggie omelette with egg whites, and fruit plate. The waffles were topped with honeydew and papaya. Which was interesting . I normally too it with strawberries and banana . To my surprise, they were ok. I like the crunchy texture to the waffle. The veggie omelette with egg whites were good as well. It had ricotta cheese which I thought was the best part and complimented extremely well. The fruit plate was not good at all. The pineapple was super sour and out of season. The cantaloupe was not sweet either. The pancakes were my least favorite. They look nice and fluffy but as soon as you bit into it , it tasted really floury.
Honestly I can't even begin to describe how bad our experience was at this restaurant. Keep in mind we've been staying at sunset for the last 10 years we've never had any problems with any of the restaurants most of the time the food is mediocre but doable. Well this restaurant was 000. We ordered coffee and water in the morning 20 minutes later not one check in from the waiter no coffee no water we have to ask the waiter to bring us my coffee which was old and nasty then the food came and it was the wrong food and then what he told me was supposed to be granola with yogurt and some fruit ended up being some hot porridge something or another that hat sticks of cinnamon that had been shredded and was really gross to eat our waiter could barely speak any English and I'm really surprised at Sunset and Pueblo Bonito for allowing something like that to happen cuz usually they're pretty good but the market itself was really cool looking I would just stay away from the fifties restaurant
