Visited this place after checking in reviews on Zomato and this place is definitely as mentioned in many reviews. The whole ambience has an earthy vibe. This restaurant is actually built in a 150 yrs old house which has been maintained quite well. The moment you step in you will fall in love with the ambience. About food- We ordered the Kothamalli meen Porichathu (Coriander fried fish) as a starter which was average... View all feedback.
What Anshul Raj doesn't like about Maison Perumal:
When you call to reserve a table, they will tell you it's first come first served. when you reach sharp at their opening time, they will tell you all tables are booked. another server told me it is only for in house guests. if that is the case then why is it even listed on Zomato? fraudulent place. do not even think of going. I went here twice in the same trip, amazing food! Tried fish grilled, mutton curry, fish curry everything is top class!

About food- We ordered the Kothamalli meen Porichathu (Coriander fried fish) as a starter which was average and tasted a bit bland. For main course we had the Era Poondu Thokku (A type of Prawn curry) which tasted very good. It was well balanced with southern spices. The same was served with rice/chapathi. Overall the food, staff as well as the ambience was great and recommended if you are in Pondicherry.
Lovely vibe of the place. Special mention to the rasam they served. Had pepper prawn curry which was soul soothing
I initially had my doubts as well, do we really need to have karaikudi food while I was soaking down with pastas; but Maison Perumal proved me wrong. It was indeed an amalgamation of French and Indian. The place looked beautiful with a very smart interiors. We got welcomed with a basket of pappad. I can’t rave enough about the mushroom milagu peratal. Btw, make sure you instruct your spice level before ordering. The mushroom was very well cooked and kept me throat hot while eating the whole time. It lacked a lot of salt and it wasn’t me but the nearby table complained of the same as well. Next was the paruppu urundai kozhambu with chappathi. The chappathi was really hard and didn’t taste good but the curry was top notch. Loved it. The lentil balls went along with the gravy and tasty too. Too add a cherry on the top, I got the pineapple kesari and I didn’t go wrong about it either. They also had an amazing list of cocktails.
