What Mac E dislikes about Valans:
This place has potential but the basics are just not right .The service is basic ,the boy never smiles,he's not impolite but personality isn't his strong point . The menu choice is good but changes rarely. The chef has no clue how to season food which is poor . Playing is good ,food looks good and the quality is there ,just no taste ,thin sauces not reduced properly and I've got to say it again ....no seasoning,poor... View all feedback.
We visited on holiday but with friends who are local and know the restaurant. My friend notified them I was gluten and dairy free and as soon as we walked in and were seated the waitress identified me and discussed options. Clearly the chef can cook as he was able to modify many of the options for me. The starter and main coourse were great but the dessert ws a real delight. Usually being GF DF I get a choice of sorbet, sorbet or sorbet which is always overly sweet. But chef could make me coconut pancakes or an Eton Mess. Well the pancakes were dellcious and my non-dairy-free friend decided to have the dairy-free Eton Mess as it appealed to her. Great place, fab food!
It was our second visit (we have family in the local area) and this was as amazing as the first. Super tasty home cooked meals with incredible desserts too. Continues to be somewhere we highly recommend to anyone!
Visited here with family for lunch. The food was delicious and the service was swift and unobtrusive. I absolutely loved the Bellinis we had too. We were too full to enjoy dessert at the time but took home some gorgeous sweet treats to savour later that were perfectly packaged to travel home with us.
