I ordered the poutine takeout from this restaurant and the gravy was deliciously salty with fantastic flavors. A large order was only $12 and was so generous that even four people couldn't finish it. View all feedback.
What Gonzalo Gaytán doesn't like about Gavin's Grub:
Our first time to Gavin's I had a great burger and fries. My second visit about a month later I had a hotdog. Unfortunately the dog had seen better days and looked rather gray. The bun was also very dry. Will give it another chance in case it was just a bad day. View all feedback.
I have tried this place a few times due to the fact that it's one of the only place in Washago. I have finally pulled the plug and won't be coming back. The "cook" was to busy on their cellphone and then back to cooking, with out washing their hand. Just the thought of that grosses be out. No hair nets or baseball caps. The food is meh always cold and taste less.
I was in a rush traveling up Highway 169, and then Highway 11 to Muskoka. I had seen this restaurant often as I take this route regularly. I decided to order a hot dog just to tie me over. I thought the price of $4.50 was a little high for a basic hot dog (listed as $4.00 but told it was $4.50 with tax). The service took longer than expected, even though there were two employees and I was the only new customer. The bun was cold, the condiments seemed old, and there was no napkin provided. I saw napkins inside the window, but none were available for customers. I gave up after trying to find a napkin and discovered the employees were outside sitting at a picnic table. Overall, the hot dog was not very tasty. I should have asked for a warmer or toasted bun and should have addressed the napkin situation. Compared to other similar places like the lady at Home Depot in Bracebridge, the guy in the parking lot in Port Carling, or the woman at the airport in Haliburton, there is no comparison.
If you're in Washago and looking for some delicious homemade food, this is the perfect place to visit with your friends and family!
I was not thrilled with the fries. Seemed average to me, maybe a bit soft. I had a combo and it was very filling. I don't really need to come back here again as I don't think it was special enough to drive a distance for. It was very busy when I went. Most would probably like it, but I thought just too busy and not worth it. But it was lunch time and I could tell it was hard to keep up.
Was hankering for a burger and fries so thought I would give them a shot. Almost ripped of my muffler off in the giant pothole at the entrance way when I came in which thank goodness has now been somewhat fixed. The young lady who took my order was displaying great frustration that she had to work that day and spent the entire time with her back to me texting on her cell phone. She had very long blond hair which was not tied back and I was concerned I would find a long hair in my food as she kept flicking it behind her shoulders.Took 25 minutes for my poutine and it was still cold as they had not turned on the fryers yet and the oil needed to heat up to the proper temperature. The fries tasted like fish. The gravy and cheese was not melted and cold. My burger was a 1 inch golf ball on a giant bun so most of my bites were just bread and no meat. The condiment tray was disgusting and looked like the utensils had been in there for a week. The condiments where in open containers and the rain water from the roof was dripping into the condiments and when I mentioned it to the young girl at the takeout window she handed me the cover for the condiments and never changed them and closed the window as if to say please don't bother me. I was so hungry and after a few bites I dumped the entire meal in the trash can. I though I would give them another try and the sign said open but it was closed. Stay away.
