Arriving here it looks like pub like atmosphere. Besides having an in door dining are they also had outdoor tables. Very nice. It was our first time here. They had a great variety of food let alone a nice bar menu. They had everything from burgers to pizza. The pizza oven could be scene in the dining room. Very nice. There were 4 adult and 2children. They didn't have children menus but they improvised to their liking. I had the perch dinner. Excellent. They said it wasn't Lake Erie perch but perch from Europe. I was hesitant on ordering that but I'm glad I did. Very good. The rest of the party had Surf Turf tacos which they also said excellent. The other person had the halibut fish chips which was shared by the child. The other child had chicken strips and fries. They gave good portions and all was very good. For the six of us to eat there came to about $130.00. We did not order any alcohol, just sofa drinks. I we'll definitely come back. Very nice atmosphere restaurant.
Wait to be seated sign seems to not matter. We waited and watched others walk in and be seated and then hostess came out and indicated there was no room. Try Lord Amherst better service and food.
Outdoor patio was nice, ordered The Burger (w/ salty dog fries) and the Veggie Burger (w/ reg fries). Both burgers came with the same fries? Not sure if they were the salty dog or regular fries? waitress did not know. Either way the fries were soft, not fresh, not crisp, and small. The burgers were good. However, The Burger comes with arugula that tasted off should come with regular lettuce instead. Service was mediocre non existent once you got your food. Overpriced for what you get. Disappointed
Happened to stop in for food during the uncommon festival this past weekend! Our server was amazing! I'm a vegan and was expecting to have to get some bland salad, but to my surprise they had vegan tacos on the menu! THEY WERE DELICIOUS. Can't wait to go back!
Food was not bad, decent! However, all workers inside the resturant were not following protocols as they all didn't wear their masks properly. (all worn below the nose or chin) and the people making the pizza/ food were not wearing masks at all. Made us feel very uncomfortable during a pandemic.
Salty Dog offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with friendly, attentive servers and a varied menu that includes standout dishes like Lobster Mac, surf and turf tacos, and flavorful appetizers. The patio provides a pleasant dining option, though dog-friendly policies appear inconsistent. Food quality ranges from good to very good, with some dishes praised for freshness and taste, while others, like the fries and certain greens, could improve. Service is generally strong, yet occasional seating delays and pandemic safety lapses have been noted. Reasonably priced drinks and a cozy ambiance make it a solid choice for casual dining and social gatherings.

The food we ordered was amazing! My partner absolutely loves calamari and said it was the best he’s ever had! We really enjoyed our experience here. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because there was a strong fishy smell inside, likely from the nearby preparation of various seafood dishes.
We had the perfect vantage point near the pizza oven, where we could watch the chefs skillfully toss hand-pulled crusts and chat with them about the incredible dishes they were creating. They were kind enough to answer all the questions my kids had. Every single dish we tried was outstanding. Here are my top picks: 1. The Big Dill Pizza, which was a delightful twist from their standard offerings and simply incredible. 2. The Gorgonzola cheese breadsticks, which elevated the dish to a whole new level. 3. Dynamite Shrimp - the name says it all; it was absolutely explosive in flavor. 4. Arancini - a classic that was executed perfectly, cheesy and saucy, just delectable. 5. Canadian Pizza - another classic that my kids love and always request. As I looked around the restaurant, I could see that the staff was not just working—they were a cohesive team, balancing professionalism with a clear talent for creating amazing dishes. As a satisfied patron, I want to champion this establishment. I will definitely be back, and I encourage others to give it a try!
Great experience overall. we started with the brittle sprudel order, which was divided between 6 people (very generous part! . for my first I had the grilled sweet salad with the garnels that was delicious. we also had a Po-Junge that was good overall, but would have used a better bungalow for the basic. the darkened chicken, steak and salmon were the other chiefly ordered and were all a big hit. I recommend definitiw!
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was excellent, and I was impressed by the variety of gluten-free options available. I tried the lobster and steak tacos, which came with salad sleeves instead of the usual flour tortillas, and they were delicious. Another highlight was the fried beet salad, which I absolutely loved. They also offer a gluten-free pizza crust, making it a great spot for those with dietary restrictions. Highly recommend!
When there this past weekend for our Anniversary. The food was amazing!!!! But I'd have to say the service was better. I can't recall our servers name but he was great. Food came super quick he was super friendly. I definitely recommend ?

Have been here multiple times, it's the family's favorite place in Amherstburg. Always a great experience. I can't get enough of the tacos, especially the lobster, or surf and turf. Mussels are a must also. Steak frites are good, but make sure you ask for them rare to medium rare. The wood oven pizza is very aromatic, although not the greatest pizza out there, but totally worth it and size is like a Domino's large. Portions are generous, and prices are about $20-30 per person without drinks. It's close to the water in Amherstburg, there is some free street parking, but when the town is busy in the summer, it's harder to find a spot close by. It's a small business, not too many tables, during the summer the patio is open allowing for more seating.
Amazing food! Had the mussels and salmon! Yumm! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CA$30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
They need to make up their mind as to whether they are dog friendly or not, were there 4 times last year, dogs were always on outside patio. Today when we went with our small dog were told not allowed . Server said she'd worked there 2 years and were never allowed. I guess we were hallucinating them. Salty dog has lost our and our friends business

The food we ordered was fantastic! My husband loves calamari, and he said this was the best he's ever tasted! We truly enjoyed our time here. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that there was a strong "fishy" odor inside, probably from the nearby oven cooking different seafood dishes.
The food here is amazing, with a great selection of gluten-free options! I had the lobster and steak tacos, choosing lettuce wraps instead of flour tortillas. My dining companion loved the roasted beet salad as well. They even have gluten-free pizza crust available!
1. **Big Dill Pizza** - This was certainly a distinctive option, but it was truly amazing. 2. **Beef Tips** - The gorgonzola cheese added an incredible depth of flavor to these tips. 3. **Dynamite Shrimp** - The name says it all; the flavor was nothing short of explosive. 4. **Arancini** - A traditional dish executed beautifully. It was cheesy, saucy, and utterly delicious. 5. **Canadian Pizza** - A classic favorite among my kids, who finished it off in no time. When you can enjoy your meal in a restaurant where every team member embodies a perfect mix of warmth, professionalism, and culinary expertise, it’s something worth appreciating. I not only acknowledge it but also want to celebrate it. I will definitely return many times, and I encourage others to give it a try as well!
Our experience at The Salty Dog was fantastic overall. We began with the Brussels sprouts, which were served in a very generous portion for six to share. For my main course, I chose the grilled veggie salad with shrimp, and it was absolutely delicious. We also tried a po' boy, which was good but could have been improved with a better bun. The blackened chicken, steak, and salmon were other favorites among our group, all big hits. I definitely recommend checking out The Salty Dog’s menu!
I love visiting The Salty Dog in the summer! The servers are always friendly and efficient. Though there can be a wait during busy times, they take your phone number and text or call you when your table is ready. While you wait, you can head down the road for a drink. The appetizers are fantastic—Brussels sprouts and Cajun beef tips are my favorites! The food is outstanding, especially the Lobster Mac, which is absolutely delicious. We've been here many times and have always had a great experience. They also offer some great cocktails, with the Kentucky Sweet Tea being my top choice!
