Food was delicious and good service. Our first visit but not our last. If you are in the area try it out. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Nestled in a charming locale, this restaurant has garnered mixed reviews from diners. While many appreciate its extensive menu, offering everything from steak dinners to burgers, others lament the inconsistency in food quality. Some dishes, like the potato salad and pasta primavera, shine with flavor, whereas others fall short, leaving guests dissatisfied. Service is generally friendly, though issues like long wait times and cleanliness have been noted. Despite its shortcomings, the restaurant remains a beloved local hangout, with patrons hopeful for improvements to elevate their dining experience and restore its previously stellar reputation.

Delicious, great pieces and excellent customer service! highly recommended!

My wife and I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant, but yesterday's visit was a letdown. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was the worst I've ever had. For $13, I received a soggy biscuit topped with two tiny eggs, a few ham slices, and a low-quality hollandaise sauce. I think they offer too many menu options, with a regular menu, brunch menu, and 2-3 specials. It would be better to have fewer choices of higher quality. I understand that staffing may be a challenge, and I hope my experience was just a one-time issue. I hope they can improve their once excellent reputation for great food.

Nice local hangout. Only order the items they suggest. This time I ordered something else (Philly cheesesteak) and it wasn't great. One item is they don't have a hostess monitoring the door so you may wait a little while until someone comes. Love the atmosphere, wait staff is nice and attentive.

First came to this restaurant over 30 years ago. Moved away and just recently moved back. The food, service, and atmosphere is still as wonderful now as it was back then! The menu choices are varied and offer something for everyone. The food was beautifully presented, generous, and delicious! It's been a local favorite for generations and rightfully so.

Food was great and service was great. This was for lunch, the chicken salad was homemade and so was the coleslaw. Would recommend it !

The Briar Patch offers delicious food, excellent customer service, and unique decor that always surprises me. I recently took out-of-town guests there and we all agreed that it was a must-visit spot.

Great visit, service really made us feel like we mattered 6 of us, and we tipped near 50% because of quality food and service. I wish I lived closer, so this could legitimately be my new favorite restaurant.

My birthday dinner at this restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious and our server, Sarah, was outstanding. She was attentive and kind, even taking the time to chat with us about the tough time my family is going through. To top it all off, she surprised me with a birthday dessert complete with a candle, all on the house. A big thank you to the Briar Patch team, especially Sarah, for making my difficult birthday feel special.

We enjoy eating here when we pass through the area. This local restaurant has friendly staff, a good selection of simple food, a family atmosphere, and decent portions and prices. You may not find dairy alternatives for your coffee here but the Derby Pie isscrumptious. They do have gluten free brownies. Have been a customer for more than 5 years.

We asked for recommendations on Facebook for places to eat in the Madison Heights/Amhurst area as we wanted to try something new and different! We live in Lynchburg and wanted to venture out a little bit. By far the majority of the responses said BriarPatch! We decided to head over early Saturday evening to beat the crowds and there were plenty of tables still available at4:45pm. It had almost filled completely when we left at 5:45pm. We were seated promptly, and a lovely server named Sarah greetedus and told us about the menu and popular items. The menu is huge, something for everyone. My husband decided on Pan SearedChicken Livers, Mac and cheese and Greek salad. (See photos It was all fantastic!!! Huge portions, cooked and seasonedperfectly. He was in heaven! I decided on Pasta Primavera with Parmesan cream sauce. It was delicious, and another hugeportion. Thank goodness as I took 1/2 home for dinner tomorrow! Creamy, flavorful with fresh veggies!!! (The photo does notshow all the gorgeous vegetables that were tucked under the creamy pasta! For dessert we had Bread pudding with vanilla sauceand it may be the best I?ve ever had!!! Another large serving, I took 1/2 home for tomorrow! My husband had the Derby Pie withice cream and he ate and loved every bite. Our server Sarah was so precious, helpful, efficient and met every need before wecould ask. Bravo!!! Will request her area when we return. The prices are VERY reasonable, worth every penny. Totally worth thedrive from Lynchburg. 5 stars for SURE. ??????????

I had a wonderful time celebrating my niece Maddie's birthday dinner with a group of about 26 people. The waitstaff managed everything exceptionally well. The seafood I ordered was fantastic! The atmosphere was enjoyable, complemented by a live singer playing guitar at the bar. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. We'll definitely be returning for more!

My wife and I finally made it to Briar Patch this Saturday, and it did not disappoint! She really enjoyed her Pasta Primavera and raved about the bread pudding for dessert, claiming it's the best she's ever had. As for me, I tried the pan-seared chicken livers (someone has to appreciate them!). I also ordered the most delicious Greek salad and their macaroni and cheese. Since my wife was set on having dessert, I couldn't resist indulging in the famous Briar Patch Derby Pie, complete with ice cream, of course! We had an amazing time, and our server Sarah was outstanding. We can't wait to return soon!

The service was decent, but as I looked around my table, I noticed that the place wasn't particularly clean. The country potatoes were fantastic, but the Bourbon Street omelette was quite bland. Some of the onions and peppers were burnt, giving certain bites a bitter taste, and it definitely needed more seasoning. I've heard a lot of people rave about this place, but I'm not sure I understand the hype.

This is our favorite restaurant to stop at when traveling from home to Lynchburg. The food is always good and the service is top notch. The staff is friendly and Jim has a mind like a steel trap after 2 months he even remembered what beer I drink.

I truly enjoy dining at this local restaurant. They have a diverse menu with plenty of options, including a fantastic steak dinner with two sides, a classic burger with fries, and a club sandwich. Plus, they now serve prime rib every day of the week, whereas it used to be available only on the weekends. Just a note, the restaurant closes on Sunday evenings after 2 PM and is closed all day on Mondays.

The food at this restaurant is amazing. You absolutely have to try the potato salad; it's so tasty. I really love coming here, but my only complaint is that it's always quite cold inside.

I always order the crab stuffed mushrooms and the special salad at this restaurant, and they are amazing! My husband has sampled the pastas and burgers, and he enjoys those as well.

My husband and I visited today while we're in town for the Overland Expo East, coming from Asheville, NC. We were looking to find some normalcy for the weekend, and this restaurant truly exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly kind, and we really appreciated their hospitality. It provided a bright spot during a challenging time in our lives. Plus, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Thank you once again!
