The Cafe De La Gare is located just across the street from Amboise's train station. I was there in November, in the off-season, and stopped in for a coffee while I waited for the train back to Paris. On a Sunday afternoon in winter, I was the only customer, but the family who owns the cafe had gathered at the restaurant and were enjoying little appetizers and coffees, standing at the bar and chatting. Kids were playing quietly and having snacks, and it was nice to see a family enjoying themselves.I was still made to feel welcome by the woman running the cafe, even though everyone seemed kind of surprised to see me there, and moments later I had a decent little demitasse of espresso, much needed on a grey and drizzly day. When I went to pay, the charge was so minimal that my mouth dropped open. After paying 5 Euros for a demitasse in Paris, it was a pleasure to lay down 2 Euro on the table and know that a decent tip was included in the price. The cafe looked like it had a little patio off to one side that could be nice in summer. And being that the train station doesn't have a restroom, the cafe's patrons-only restroom is well worth the price of a coffee and a little rest in the bare-bones dining room.Despite being low-key, the cafe manages to feel like a nice little family run spot. And the bar looked cool - an old, wide, wooden countertop with stools. I can't speak to the food, but the people were nice and the coffee was hot!

We are from Washington Starbuck country, however we are crazy about all the Dutch Bro's and love to hit it up when in Oregon.
The cafe de la gare lies directly opposite the train station amboise. I was in november, in the next season, and kept for a coffee while waiting for the train back to paris. on a Sunday afternoon in winter I was. the only customer, but the family that belongs to the caffe had gathered in the restaurant and enjoyed small appetizers and coffees, standing at the bar and chatting. children played quietly and have snacks, and it was nice to see a family that enjoys itself. I was still felt welcome by the woman who runs the caffe, although everyone seemed somehow surprised to see me there, and moments later I had a decent little demitasse of espresso, much needed on a gray and drizzly day. when I went to pay, the appeal was so minimal that my mouth went up. after the payment of 5 euro for a demoasse in paris it was a joy to put 2 euro on the table and to know that a decent tip was included in the price. the caffe looked like it had a small terrace from a side that could be beautiful in the summer. And since the railway station has no restroom, the only restroom of the caffe is worth the price for a coffee and a small rest in the bare bone dining room. despite the low key, the caffe creates to feel like a nice little family runway. and the bar looked cool, an old, wide, wooden worktop with hockern. I can't talk to the food, but the people were nice and the coffee was hot!
